Severe Anxiety Since Having Baby

I have been having really bad anxiety for the last five months. since my baby was about three months old. I do suffer from ocd..that also seems worse since having my baby. I deal with my ocd during the day by keeping busy..but everynight my heart starts racing, my mind doesn't shut off and sometimes I get bad heart flutters, that makes me feel like I am falling at first then a quick strong flutter. I have tried everything, long showers, back rub, breathing, I can't stop it from happening. will it ever go away?

Spacing of Children

I have a beautiful 2 1/2 year old son. My husband and I know that we want at least one more child. However, we are waiting to have a second child. Along with being a mom, I am also a full-time nursing student. I don't want to have a second child until after I graduate. We plan to get pregnant (well as much as you can plan) at the end of next summer. If all goes according to plan, the kids will be 4 years apart. Some people have taken it upon themselves to tell me that I should not wait so long and that the kids should be closer in...

Dentist for Year Old Baby?

I have a year old baby girl. I currently have an appointment (which I'm not certain I'm going to keep) to have her teeth cleaned. It's at a pediatric dentist - here in Raleigh. And I called them today to see what to expect during her first visit - which I thought was going to be just an examination and maybe an explination and confirmation that I'm cleaning her teeth properly - but, no - they said that a hyginist was actually going to clean her teeth. She only has six! They said I would be back there, basically holding her down while...

Day Care V. Nanny for Strong-willed Toddler

Hello Moms - My 17-month-old daughter's part-time nanny is resigning, in part because she is not used to taking care of a strong-willed toddler. We would like to find someone who knows how to be respectful to my child, but who understands that the adult ultimately sets the rules and that sometimes, a toddler will cry and rebell, but that it is up to the adult to make the decisions. It took me weeks and weeks to find this nanny, and I'm not sure whether it is worth it to search for another part-time care taker. Instead, I was...

Constipation in My 14 Week Old

HI, my 14 week old little boy has had a real difficult time with his digestion. Initially, we were dealing with him spitting up constantly and now he is going 3-5 days without a bowel movement. I have to admit that I am starting to get frustrated because I am breastfeeding and I feel like no matter what I eat it is bad for him. First I was avoiding gassy foods to decrease the spit up and now I need to avoid constipating foods. I feel like there is nothing that I can eat. I cut back on a lot of vegetables and salads because that was causing...

Can My Doctor Force Me to Be Induced?

Hello. I am 31 weeks pregnant. My last baby was 9 lbs. 6 0z. I gave birth to him naturally and we were both fine. (except for the horrible reaction I had to an epidural that didn't work) Ever since the begining of my pregnancy my Dr. has said I will need to be induced a week early to keep this baby from getting to big. I really, really do NOT want to be induced. I want to avoid an epidural at all costs. Now my last baby was a week late , so inducing a week early seems silly to me. On top of which I had no problem giving birth to a big baby...

Do You Take Your Child's Word ABSOLUTELY?

Just wondering. Because I see a lot of question's posted, my child said: so and so pushed me, called me a name, etc. my teacher said (something mean/inappropriate) my friend's mom said (ditto to above) And MANY of the responses are along the lines of: unacceptable! do not play with that child! pull your child out of that class! that's why we home school! Um, what about questioning what the child is saying, or how they are interpreting the situation? I feel like I am in the minority here. I love my kids, and they are overall...

Anyone with an Idea of What Is Going On

Ok this is going to be lengthy, but I am at my wits end. In May 2005, I found these lumps on my back near my shoulder blades. I figured they were cysts. I went to the doctor because when I would lay down or lean back they would hurt. In August 2005, the doctor pulled fluid out of both of them. Not to be gross but it was the color of Mountain Dew. He thought that would take care of the problem. NOPE. They began leaking fluid out of the site that was pricked with the suringe. So September 2005 I had surgery to have the "cysts" removed...

My son is 3 years old. I can not seem to get him to even go potty on the toilet let alone train him. He sits on the little potty but doesn't do anything. He knows when he needs to be changed and will go and get a pull-up for me. He even sometimes takes off his pull-up before he hands me a new one. Vaccination: Get All Shots Together or Spread Them Apart?

I have a 4 1/2 month old son. For his vaccines at 2 months, we spread them apart over 2 weeks and he was fine, fussy for a day or two, but not too bad. At his 4 month check up last week, he got one of his shots, (2 remaining) and I was planning on going back two more times to complete the series. However, last week when he got the first shot, he developed a mild fever (which is expected) but he was fussy for about 4 days! I'm wondering if I'm doing the right thing by having him go through this 2 more times. Maybe I should do them all...

Ugh..I hate to even be having this conversation. Need a New Bedtime Routine

My daughter recently turned 1. Since she was born I have always rocked her to bed with a bottle in her room, with no lights on and door shut. Until she was 11 months she was up at least 2 times a night (on a good night), so whatever worked to get her to bed was ok with me. She had always gone to bed fine, and sleeps well in her crib. One night when she was about 10 1/2 months I was putting her to bed and she wasn't acting tired (she's never had a set bedtime because she naps at all different times during the day). She got a little...

Flu Shots?? Do We Do Them on Our Children or Not?

I would love to hear opinions on flu shots and kids. I am vehemently opposed to doing it to myself due to such severe illnesses on the years I did get the shot. My husband says no because he doesn't trust them either. Our doctors want all our kids to have them. What do we do? I feel like I loose either way in this if they get a severe case of the flu. As for my kids, they are all healthy, active, and they do get the flu each year, just manageable cases of it. But these new flu strains are quite scary. Any input would be great!

Fine Motor Skills Delay - What Does the Future Hold?

I have 2 sons, ages 3 and 22 months, that both have speach delays. The theory is that the speach delays are due in part to fine motor skills delays. My 3 year old is receiving help through a developmental preschool and my 22 month old is seeing a speach therapist and may begin seeing an occupational therapist soon. My question is, will they catch up and be normal going forward or is this something they will struggle with forever? What kind of struggles will this cause when they reach school age? I am just looking to hear from other...
