Hi to all.my son was almost near to 2 years.he wants watching the cartoon films some time.but i dont know abt these so much.i just know the dora,thomas train.so let me know abt this age of kids usaually like to watch the cartoons.

all of the ice ages, cars, bolt. stay away from monster house for a while it has a scary hand shadow in it that scares my 2 yr old. the only one I would stay away from from my sons experience is monster house. everything else has been resonable. I dont like sponge bob, scoobie doo, and my kids dad doesnt like barney.
About anything by Pixar or Disney would be appropriate. For other things, look for G-rated stuff. Loony Toons are good. Thomas the Tank Engine Bob the Builder and Dora are good. Any of the kid's shows on PBS or Sprout are great, most of those are even educational. My daughters LOVE Caillou and it's one of my favorites for little kids. No Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, etc. I don't think Spongebob is good for that age, either.
One tip, when you let him watch a new series that he hasn't seen before, make sure to watch it with him (a good time to fold the laundry in front of the TV). That way you can judge for yourself if he likes it and if you feel it's appropriate before you let him watch in again. And if you can stand it, of course. Barney is banned from my house because it is too annoying. There are others nearly as annoying out there.
If you subscribe to NetFlix, you can get all sorts of kids shows. Either through instant download to your computer or as a DVD in the mail. It's a fairly economical way to try out lots of different kids shows. We do this. This way we only buy the ones that my kids really, really like. The others, we watch a few times if they're decent, and then send them back and wait for another one in two days.
I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old. They love playhouse disney. They love the winnie the pooh videos as well. Anything on the Noggin channel as well. You get used to Dora and Yo Gabba Gabba. I used to not let them watch it but my 2 year old will sit through and entire episode of Yo Gabba Gabba and I actually get it now. It really isnt that bad. It teaches them good lessons about being polite and taking care of each other. I personally prefer Yo Gabbag Gabbag over The Wiggles (YUCK) Or even sprout is a good one. I also have a tv that plays VHS in their room. They have all the old disney classics. They love robin hood and jungle book. Fox and the Hound, Meet the Robinsons is my oldest's favorite. Sprout has a lot of good cartoons that aren't violent. Our kids love Dragon Tales, Olivia, and Caliou?. They also like Garfield.
My oldest likes Sponge Bob, but there is also Bob the builder. You could try getting him some of the disney films like Cars, Finding Nemo, Up, Wall-E, Shrek, ect. The colors and the characters attract their attention. You could also try The Wiggles, Sesame Street, Yo Gabba Gabba, anything live action.
Thomas the train, Dora, Mickey mouse clubhouse, caillou, curious george. Anything on PBS. Anything else is probably too old for him.
My Neighbor Totorro , It's a Japanese film but distro by Disney.
No sponge bob , or yo Gabba gabba you will regret it. Anything playhouse Disney.
Wall-e, Cars, The lion king 1 1/2 , Winnie The Pooh.
barney , yo gabba gabba and spongebob are not allowed in our house.
Also remember , be prepared for the toys, etc to begin to invade your house.
My son is almost 2 years (April 24). I try to watch everything he does to make sure it's quality tv. He loves:
- Between the Lions (PBS)
- Bob the Builder (PBS)
- MIFFY & Friends (PBS)
- Garfield
- My Friends Tigger & Pooh
- Chuggington
- Olivia
- Clifford (PBS)
- Curious George (PBS) He likes it. But it's on during naptime, so we don't watch it very often, if ever now
We watch Sesame Street occasionally. He likes it, but there are parts of it that I disagree with, so I limit his watching of it.
My 2 year old loves the Curious George movies (the show is on PBS too if you prefer to not buy the videos).

We watch a lot of PBS, some of the shows tend to be for smaller children like Clifford the Big Red Dog, Dragon Tales, etc...and some of the others are geared to older preschool age kids, they help learn reading basics, but they are not harmful or "above" any childrens level, they just may not be as interested in them at this young age.

Mickey Mouse Club House, Handy Manny, Little Einsteins, Imagination Movers, Chuggington, Special Agent Oso, etc....Phineus and Ferb is the best cartoon I have enjoyed in a long time.

As for Nick Jr. We don'tlike Spongebob because they make Patrick stupid, there is absoltely no reason to make a character who isn't smart enough to recognize his own parents or to make a character like Mr. Krabs who is so greedy he steals from his friends.
We do like Dora, Diego, Kai-Lan, the Fresh Beat Band, Backyardigans, Wonderpets, etc....

There are lots of cartoons out there that are more appropriate for preschoolers and schoolage kids, they can wait until the little ones are older.
My son's favorites when he was two were
Clifford, The Big Red Dog (PBS)
Dragontales (also PBS, don't know if still on)
At age 2 he was pretty limited as to his TV watching.
Some of the movies he loved were: Jungle Book, Lady & the Tramp, Peter Pan (he was Peter Pan for 3 years for Halloween). He also loved the Disney sing-along videos. If you have a video player (tape not disk) go to the local thrift shop and you can find a boat load of Disney/Nickelodeon videos from when people moved on to DVDs. If you don't have a vhs, you could probably get one there too, for $5 or so.
