Info Re: Formula Feeding

Hello all, Some infromation please. I'm formula feding my child. How long can you keep a bottle that an infant began to drink from? I've heard different things, some say you can't go back, other things I've read say 2 hours. What is the common practice? Also has anyone used the playtex drop in liners that you're supposed to rip the tab off of? Someone bought them for me by mistake, they seem impossible to use. Is there an easy way to rip off the tab?

Recommended Baby Items for 1St Time Momma

My husband and I are expecting our first child in July. This will be the first grandchild on both sides and his mom is dying to hit the store! She would like for us to register (which is fine) but we're not sure what to register for. Besides the obvious - crib, bedding, stroller, car seat - is there anything that you recommend? We'd like to make sure that we cover all the bases and with all the gear and gadgets out there, it can be a bit overwhelming. Thanks for your help!

3 1/2 Month Old Takes Really Long Afternoon Nap

I know most moms are usually complaining about their little ones not napping long enough, but I'm actually concerned that mine naps too long. We can't seem to get on a bedtime routine and I don't know if I need to meddle with things or not. She's exclusively breastfed but I'm trying to get her more accepting of bottles now so I can have a break occasionally. My other two children were allowed to do their own thing and I followed their lead, which seemed to lead to them finding their own routine and it worked great for everyone. However,...

Is Thumb-sucking Really That Bad?

i have a 4 month old baby boy, Hunter, very cute, very happy, very easy going. lately he's started to suck on his thumbs. my mom (who helps take care of him) is very against thumb sucking. she's afraid that he'll suck his thumbs until his skin goes raw. my mom is a doctor, so she's seen a lot of weird things, and raw thumbs on children, unfortunately, is one of those things she's seen and couldn't get out of her mind. so my mom and i have been trying to cover up Hunter's hands using mitts and try to introduce the pacifier, but Hunter's...

Feeding, Sleeping and Schedule for Twins

We are proud parents of twins who are nine weeks old. The last week or two they have become more fussy and life has become a little more challenging. My request would apply to many topics including feeding, sleeping, twins, and the importance of scheduling. Our major problem now is fussiness that we believe is from gas and constipation. Yesterday we started them on a prescription stool softener. We are hopeful this will help. The twins are mainly fussy in the evening which leads our doctor's nurse to believe we may be dealing with...

Baby Refuses Bottle

I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to help my baby "like" the bottle. She is 4 months old and I've been trying since one month. Obviously she is exclusively breast-fed, and I've been pumping to have milk available so I can "go out" once in a while. HA! Yeah right, she refuses a bottle anytime we try (even I tried once and she just laughed at me!). Anyways, this may be related to her dislike of the pacifier... It'd be nice to be able to go out once in a while and not worry whether she will take the bottle or not. Any...

Cereal in Bottle??? 1St Foods Gerber?

My baby just turned 5 months old and 2 weeks ago I started giving him cereal on a spoon. I only give him a few spoonfuls mainly for the purpose of development rather than actual eating. When I went to buy the cereal, there were so many choices: barley, rice, oatmeal, organic, multi grain... I decided on oatmeal. I was unaware that rice was the ideal choice for first time. In any event, he took to it well and enjoys his oatmeal cereal time. I have read many responses that moms put a little cereal in the bottle at night time to help baby sleep...

Revise My Dilemma

I would like to be more specific with the problems I'm having with my 3 month old. She has been a very colicky baby, and just when I think things are getting better they get worse. It seems she has trouble eating more than 10-15 minutes at a time and therefore needs to eat more regularly. Although at night she wants to nurse herself to sleep and continue to suckle. Last night she screamed most of the night. She would sleep for half and hour and then start screaming again. Her doctor says she has acid reflux and that she will outgrow it. She...

Sleeping Through the Night...

My 2 1/2 month old daughter started sleeping through the night two nights ago. She goes to bed around 9pm and wakes up between 5:30-6am. I started this bedtime routine with her. Mainly for my sake and it took about 3 weeks to get her used to it. At 8pm I put her in her PJ's, wash her face and hands or bathtime, put lotion on her, get her a warm bottle, then after the bottle I read her two books and she falls asleep during the books. By then it's 9pm. Here's the thing, around 2am she fusses and we give her a binky. She goes right back to...

Sanitary Pad Comfort for 11 Year Old Girls

I have an 11 year daughter who has friends that are already getting their period. My friends moms are having a difficult time finding pads or tampons that are comfortable for their young daughters. I would like to put togehter a little care package for my daughter so when her time comes she will have the right size pads along with comfort. My question is do any of you have any suggestions for these girls on what to buy? Any advice would be very helpful for my daughter in the future and for me to give to these other moms.
