My son's birthday is coming up in a few weeks. He is going to be 3. All he says he wants is a Drum set. Oi I can't say no haha
HIs father is a drummer and its a lil bonding thing they have together. Oh he also wants his own guitar. haha
So we're getting him a drum set. I'm prepared for the noise haha My sister said she is buying him his 1st acoustic guitar also.
I found one on Walmarts website, but I'm not sure on the quality.
So I was curious, have any of you ever bought a drum set for your lil one? Where did you get yours?
I know there is walmart, target, guitar center etc.
I want to find a nice one, but not one that is crazy expensive.
Any ideas ladies?

I would steer from Walmart because they are known for having cheaper, poorer quality on everything they have. They squeeze the suppliers to make their products cheaper so they have the low price.
You get what you pay for...
I'd stick with Toys or Us, Target or a music store.

We got it (same site) used for $150, full price it's $300 (free shipping). It looks like their used one now is only $125... it's a lot more 'set' though, as a 5 piece plus 2 cymbals.
It's lasted is 5 years and going strong. Including many many many toddlers, kids, teens, and adults banging away it it.
It has decent tone. Not pro tone, but not "kid" tone, either.
Inlaws got ones from Costco for the 2 grandsons... yeah us! :-{
JC Penney, Costco, Toys R Us, Music Center all have good ones.
Toys R Us has some better made drum sets!! I've been seriously considering getting one for me kiddos.

The one that Rachel D posted I think is the one we got my son a few years ago (for his 3rd birthday I believe). It just appears to be a different color now. He loves it and it has held up very well.
Yes everyone always says "I am going to buy your son this or that noise toy" and our response is "that is fine, you do realize we bought him a drum set?"
We have had the First Act set (from Toys R Us) for 5 years. Quality is great. We got it for my middle son when he was 2 and he started taking lessons when he was 5 and it was good enough for practicing his lessons on. Have fun!
What about getting him one of those electric ones that he can wear headphones and drum away without ruining your sanity?

We've used several Remo drums at our music classes -- not the traditional drum set like those listed above, but maybe a good intro?
