Almost two years ago I went and bought the books for about $20 without joining. My mom and I did it together. We both lost over 30 lbs in the first 2 and a half months! I have kept it all off although I quit counting points very early on. It was great to have someone to do it with. And I believe it was due to the fact that I would cook full meals and calculate the points.

Hey A.! I too have a 6 and 2 year old. I began 4 months ago with my own weight watchers club. I emailed all of my friends and said let's start a get fit club. We weigh in every other friday and keep a chart of weight loss and gain. We share recipes and ideas and give each other support. I have cut outprocessed sugar, fried foods, and anything white (except califlower). I only drink water. If you will exercise 3 days a week. You will see a major difference. I have lost 25 pounds since Jan. 15th. You don't need to pay $50 a month to go to Weight Watchers. If you can even get 1 or 2 friends to join you, you can get all kinds of info over the internet to find a diet that will work for you. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!

A., you are to be commended for wanting to take care of yourself!! Because I have six children ages 10-20, I know how hard it is to keep the weight off as we get older. I have done WW, and it is a great program for the accountability, and doing it with a friend is even better. I have also worked out at CURVES for a year, and lost on the WeighDown Workshop. I yo-yo'd with all these programs because I did not understand how our bodies need certain nutrients to retain muscle mass (which helps boost our metabolism naturally) as we loose. I am currently loosing through a program called CINCH now and I love what it is doing for me! At 49, I am now confident that THIS time I will keep off the weight because of what this program offers. I have lost almost 10% of my initial body weight in 10 weeks, and my husband says I look great! If you want to know about the CINCH program as an option, let me know. Also, most of go into a program not intending to waste money, but so often that is what happens. The question to ask yourself is what is the best program with long term results that I can afford?

Hi, I don't now anything about weight watchers but I do know a little something about loseing weight. I have lost over 60 lbs, gone from a size 22 to a size 10. I did it with the help of a free website that is absolutely awesome. It is www.sparkpeople.com. It is 100% free, no hidden costs any where. It will give you a meal plan if you are not sure how to cook for yourself. It will also help you develope your own meal plan, it also gives you exercises you can do and a place to log in when you exercise so you can keep track of how you are doing. It has tones of information about the various aspects of weight loss to help you lose weight in a healthy safe way. It has teams and message boards where you can meet other people who help encourage and motivate you to stay on track. This web site has been a HUGE help to me and most of all it fits into my budget (hard to pass up free). Feel free to join weight watchers if you want there are plenty of people on the site that use weight watchers, but if you are concerned about money I would highly recommend Spark People. www.sparkpeople.com

I have never done weight watchers, but if you have discipline, the "Body for Life" program is really good and allows you to do all of your work from home.

Hi A.,

I have two friends that have lost weight with Weight Watchers. It hasn't been long enough to see if it will stay off or not yet but they both LOVE the program. I do know that one of the reasons that they have both (husband and wife) had trouble losing weight is because they are not healthy. Weak immune systems tend to hold onto any fat it can because it recognizes it as the only nutrition it has. Their diet before WW consisted of mainly pork, diet sodas, and mostly starchy vegetables. Now their diets consists of mainly pork, diet sodas, which are approved by weight watchers and green vegetables.

My husband, his best friend and his wife have lost weight and kept it off after they started taking a good, absorbable multivitamin. This vitamin got the nutrients to where they needed to be so they were all healthy enough to actually lose the weight that the body was not supposed to be carrying. My husband lost 60 pounds with no diet or activity change and then lost an additional 50 when he started running. His friend has lost 40 pounds with little exercise and NOT eating fatty foods anymore. (My husband always ate good and was never a couch potato so we never could figure out why he couldn't lose weight before.) His wife won't tell me how many she's lost, lol, but she looks the best I've seen her in 15 years.

The best way to lose weight is to get healthy and the best way to gain weight is to get healthy. A strong immune system will balance your body's fat with a little added activity.

Let me know if you'd like any more information on my husbands 110 pound weight loss. He's kept it off and feels great.

Good luck to you!

Regards,

M.

I started WW 15 weeks ago. I have lost 35.6 pds so far. It is WORKING! I joined online, I got it for 39.99 a month (worth every penny) and have axcess to Etools by WW and can go to as many meetings as i want, i don't have to pay a weekly fee. It's an online way to chat with other in the program, looks up recipes, tally points for foods from the grocery store or from resturants and has a daily chart that I can add what I eat each meal and it totals up my points for the day. It's great! I go to the meeting every friday morning. The weigh in is completely personal, noone sees it but the woman behind the desk on the computer. It is very different from WW a long time ago. The meetings are inspirational, and it seems to be helping me more than by doing it alone. I am accountable for what i put in my mouth since i know i'm weighing in each week. That help A LOT! You can stop at any time. But with success like this...why would you? Good luck.

There is no contract and you can start and stop wheneveryou want. You do eat real food and get lots of tips on preparing less fattening food and will learn a lot about how to eat for your health.

i've done weight watchers in past and think it's great, sensible and all about real world eating. there's no contract, just a minimal joining fee ($12 bucks) then you pay a weekly fee for meetings. there are usually monthly plans. (again reasonable for what you're doing... looking out for yourself). the meetings are key, support and advice that keeps you going. give it a shot... i lost 30+ lbs and was never once hungry.

weight watchers is awesome. I hated dieting and never did until a did weight watchers and I loved it. It teaches you the right things to choose not necessarily a diet. They have alot of options depending on you and your personality you chose what fits you best. I personally did better with the at home weight watchers then meetings or online. It was awesome and once you learn the foods not alot of trouble at all.
Good luck.

Weight Watchers is GREAT! I've been on it in the past, my sister-in-law & Daughter-in-law have both been on and lost weight. You can eat basically anything you want and your never hungry. It doesn't interfere with what your feeding your family. And best of all, you can do it all on-line, which makes it even easier.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Weight Watchers. It's the most effective weight loss program (just check out Consumer Reports) and it's affordable. You should call them and they will answer all of your questions. There is NO pressure. It's a non-judgemental environment. I lost 25 pounds YEARS ago and kept it off. I learned a lot about food and choices. I still find myself saying "is that donught REALLY worth all those calories?). Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't.!

Good luck.
