Breastfeed, take the baby for lots of walks and eat a balanced diet without a lot of refined flour or sugar. That's what worked for me, no crazy diets, no strange exercises. Breastfeeding burns an additional 500 calories a day, so I just made sure I wasn't eating junk and stayed hydrated (a glass of water each time you nurse) and the weight came off in about 2-3 months.

Be patient! Just remember, it took 9 months to get your body this way, it will take just as long to feel back to "normal". You might lose the weight quickly...I had a c-section and had an 11lb baby. I had a ton of water weight come right off...but I didn't feel "normal" for a while. I went for tons of walks with the baby!

It will depend a lot on how much you gain during pregnancy. I gained 50 lbs. with each child, so it took longer to get it all off. The first 25 lbs. dropped in the first two weeks without breastfeeding. Next 10 took another couple months and then the last 15 hung on until our son started walking at 10 mos. Then, I never sat again and lost even more than the remaining 15. Second child was a whole lot tougher.

I do recommend starting with walking. Once you're able to do more physical exercise, there are a number of postnatal workout DVDs that are awesome. I like Lindsay Brin's Boot Camp 2 and her Postnatal Boot Camp 1 is also good. Can get in a solid workout in less than 30 minutes, so you can do it when your baby is napping.

Good luck!

I lost all my baby weight AND went down a size from my pre-pregnancy size by breastfeeding. It only took about 5 months. Daily walks when the weather allows helps alot. Congratulations!

I did the same as Sarah L. and I was back to my pre-baby weight in 4 months without "dieting". Just ate healthy food, breastfed, and was up all day and night!

I did Weight Watchers after both of my babies with a lot of success. I gained over 50 lbs with each, and am smaller now than I was before getting pregnant. They teach you to eat healthy and in the correct portions. And they take into consideration whether you are breast feeding or not.
Be patient and don't be h*** o* yourself! Good luck!
