Definately the Playtex Spill Proof ones - they have plastic sippy's on top and a little plastic piece in the lid - they cost about $7 for a package of 2 - I've tried the Nuby's and other brands, but these Playtex ones are the only ones that truly don't leak for me.

The gerber sip and smile cups are great, and also the playtex cups. They don't leak like the others do.

I have tried them all, and for that age, I would say Gerber Nuk. By trying them, I mean that I, myself have tried them, and I suggest you do the same. I wanted something that was more natural, as so many either I couldn't get anything out of or had to bite down so hard to get anything it felt really wrong - and I didn't want him biting me that way. Try a selection and see if anything works...it may take awhile, so don't get discouraged.

I like the Nuby brand it has a rubber tip that is sorta like a bottle but it is a sippy cup. So it is not such a big change from a bottle to a hard tip sippy cup.

Like bottles, each child has a preference. After trying many, I found luck with the take and toss ones you get from Target/Wal Mart.... : )

We really loved all the Playtex sippy cups. They are made in different stages as your daughter grows, and we still use the biggest ones with our 3-year-old (just without the valve).

I get them at Target and Babies-R-Us... I'm sure you could find them at WalMart, too.

Good luck! :)

We liked the Gerber ones with a soft spout and handles as a starter sippy cup. We now use the Gerber graduate sip & smile.

I think the best ones for beginners are the soft spouts. Munchkin has some that are like the Nuby soft spouts. They might be a little more expensive, but worth it. They don't leak the same and other problems. Started my baby right when he turned 5 months and he has loved them.

Playtex. They have the small ones with handles that is perfect for her age. I loved that the top is kind of rubbery so when they start getting teeth they aren't chewing the pastic off the top :).
