Does anyone have any strong recommendations for a good psychologist in the NW suburbs? I am only looking to see a psychologist for prescribing medication but the one that I am seeing now is not working out. Thanks.

What can I do next?

You want a psychiatrist for medications, a psychologist or social worker is a therapist (no meds). Call your insurance to see who is in your network.

Yes, you would need a psychiatrist to be able to prescribe meds. If you are looking for a very nice female lisc. clinical psychologist.. (check and see the type of certification you need for your health insurance to cover if you have this type of coverage.)Dr. Dewitt in Barrington is very personable and professional. good luck!

Tiffany -

Perakis, Resis, Woods and Associates in Crystal Lake is a great firm! They have several docs you could see for medication management, but from what I know you must see a Psychiatrist (M.D) for prescriptions. Psychologists there cannot write you a script for meds you need.

Check out their website - it has a section to check out each doc and you can choose from there! Good luck!
