Scrapbook Store

The Scrapbook Pad closed, too! It closed a few months ago. I'm so sad, because it was a great store. I called the scrapbook stores listed in the yellow pages, and there's one off Trinity Mills that is still apparently open, but all others have closed (Scrapbook Pad, Scrapbook Warehouse, etc.). I think my only option is to go digital. :(

There is a place in Colleyville (on 26) that I think is called the Scrap Pad. It's great and has what you are looking for.

I always go to Michaels or Hobby Lobby. They always have stuff on sale for 40 or 50 percent off.

I get a lot of catalogs in the mail -- do you shop online? I know it's better to see and touch things in person, but it doesn't sound like there are too many choices for that any more! A few I've got are:

Current and Oriental Trading have scrapbooking catalogs too. There's a lot available and it isn't all super-expensive. I'm more of a basic scrapper, and don't use a lot of fancy embellishments (my focus is more on the picture-taking side of it, and I like my books to tell the story with pictures), so these work fine for me.

This doesn't help you with the scrapping sessions, I know, but I think some of the Creative Memories consultants host those. Or maybe you could start a scrapping group in your area! :)

Joann's Fabric has the BEST scrapbooking stuff. They do have occasional classes too but not like a place to bring your stuff and sit and scrapbook with friends, etc.

There is the Scrapbook Pad in Colleyville. It's on Grapevine Hgwy up in that shopping center with the big theater and the World Market. I haven't been there since it changed management, but I've heard it's pretty good.

There's Scrapbook Get-Away between Azle and Springtown on Jacksboro Highway (199). She just opened in January, has a decent selection of papers and coordinating accent, and occasionally offers classes and crop nights. She also told me that she allows people to come in and use her classroom space to scrap whenever she's open.

The smaller towns around the metroplex have scrapbook stores. There is one in Weatherford that is not too far off of I 20. It's called Nana's Scrapbook Memories. ###-###-####, 120 E. Simmons, Ste. 102, Weatherford, TX 76086. It isn't a huge store, but they have a lot of really cute stuff. I have also heard of one in Mineral Wells, TX called Cat's Creations. It's on 2801 Hwy 180E, Suite 13, Mineral Wells, TX 76067 ###-###-####. This one has a website: CatsCreationsScrapbooks.com Of course there is always creativememories.com and I have heard of a scrapbook convention at the Arlington Convention Center every June where you can buy a ton of stuff. There is also a scrapbook workshop day in Sept. or Oct. It's put on by Celebrations! which is somehow connected to Creative Memories. You can buy supplies and or just work on your stuff, try new products, and attend little mini sessions to learn new techniques. There are also stamping and scrapbook businesses like Stampin' Up and Close to My Heart. You could google these and put in your zip code to find an area rep. You may even be able to buy from their websites like Creative Memories. I'm not sure. Close to my Heart has really nice paper and embellishments. Another idea is to buy a scrapbook magazine and look at their ads and in the back of the magazine to find web stores or catalogs. You can buy scrapbook magazines at Barnes and Noble, Borders, Wal-mart, etc. Most stores and these home based businesses like Creative Memories, Stampin' Up, and Close to My Heart will have people in your area that have scrapbooking sessions. Just find their website and put in your zipcode. If you live in the Carrollton or Southwest side of Fort Worth, I can give you names of people with these businesses. Just let me know.

The Michael's on 377 (Denton Hwy) in Keller seems like it has more scrapbooking stuff than the other Michael's stores. That's where I've been going. Also check out this website http://www.txscrapmania.com/dirnorthtx.htm. I just found it so I don't know how updated it is. I hope that helps!

Your best bet is to buy online for now. There are lots of good stores online; Scrap Your Trip is an excellent source and their customer service is top notch! Also email Archivers...tell them we need a store here! The Arlington Highlands would be a perfect place for one; they're building Phase II right now. Archivers is as good or better than Recollections and they only have two stores in Texas and NONE in the metroplex.

Cat's Creations in Mineral Wells is a fantastic store, by the way. Personally, Michaels, Joann's and Hobby Lobby don't really have everything a serious scrapbooker needs! The GASC Convention in Arlington was disappointing this year. So many vendors were not here due to the recession and what there was appeared to be old stuff, not much new at all.
