Our family has had a travel trailer for over a year and have only been to two spots, Jellystone in Waller, and New Braunsfals. We live in Katy and would like family fun referels on R.V sites? We have 3 kids 10, 7, and 6 years old. Thanks in advance

So What Happened?

Thanks for all your responses. We are going to be spending our time in San Antonio this Spring Break. The family passes to Seaworld turned out to be very reasonable also. For the family who suggested New Braunsfals we always stay at Rio raft. It is very kid friendly has a nice pool and we request a spot that backs up to the river next to the conference hall because there is a huge grassy hill with lots of play room for the kids. Also the jellystone park in Waller is a definite favorite!! Thanks again, wish us luck in S.A

We have camped in several state parks (we are in the Adventure Guides program thru the YMCA - you may want to check into it b/c they do a lot of the work researching sites and all...) Anyway, our very favorite place is Inks Lake - about a 3 1/2 - 4 hour drive from Houston but very much worth it. Rusk / Palestine was quite nice too. For an "RV" park, we stayed at the Admirality last year for Spring Break and again in August - it's right across the street from SeaWorld San Antonio and they provide a shuttle bus over there. They have a pool as well. For a little bit longer trip, we went to RockPort and stayed in an RV park (can't remember the name - sorry) and it was nice b/c they had a pool and a kids room. Good luck and have fun!

You don't say where you stayed in New Braunfels, but I highly recommend the Jellystone up on FM 306 close to Canyon Lake. It was formerly the Maricopa Ranch Resort. It is our favorite place to go. We also like Blazing Star RV Park in San Antonio, Lone Star RV Park in Austin and closer to home the Rayford Crossing RV Park in the Woodlands. We stayed there recently because we couldn't get away early enough to drive too far and we had a fabulous time and got there fast. Still felt like we were in another town!
We also like the state parks although the facilities aren't anywhere near what you get in private parks, but usually the hiking/nature makes up for it.

Hi S.. There is a really great RV park in Montgomery. It used to be independently owned but KOA owns it now I think. They have reasonable rates and lots of amenities for kids of all ages. They have a covered swimming pool (with kiddie pool) and jacuzzi. The have a playground and a tennis court! Also, their RV pads are concrete, a big plus. We go there about once or twice a year. We have tried other places but so far they have the most for your money. The number I have for them is 800-562-9750 or you can probably find them on the KOA website. Have fun!
