Reusable Diapers like or Not??

I used gdiapers with my youngest. They have cloth covers with flushable inserts so you are still buying the inserts but you can flush them. If you don't want to flush them you can still throw them out because they break down in 2 months instead of 500 years like disposable. You do have to wash the plastic liners but it's not as bad as a dirty cloth diaper because you have flushed the biggest part of it. (My husband is a germaphobe so he never would have felt like the laundry was clean enough if we went with traditional cloth. It's another option and it's really cool. I've used cloth on 5 of my 6 kids. Fuzzi Bunz are a favorite. I also like the ones that I've made myself. Cloth can certainly be worn under clothes. Some covers can be worn as pants. I have fleece longies that work great as a cover and look like pants. I haven't had any major problems with diaper rash. They have always seemed comfortable enough.

I use BumGenius 3.0 One size diapers that grow with your child. I like them a lot. I used them with my first son and am now using them again with my 7 week old. It does definitely cut down on the diaper rash and is much better for their little bottoms! They are bulkier than disposables but we never had much problem with it. He wore the same clothes before and after we switched to them and he didn't seem to have problem with movement. I am trying to sell mine if interested. I have plenty fuzzi bunz, bum genius, chinese prefolds and covers and then a bunch of samples of different ones I didn't like as much (happy heinies, kissaluvs, etc.) I LOVED cloth so much better with my first and never used sposies and he never had rash. The BEST thing for rash is pure corn starch, sprinkle some on and usually in 1-2 days if not same day it was a million times better. I made the switch when my son was about 6 months old, not because of diaper rash, but just because they are healthier for the babies, without the harsh chemicals. I had to put him back into a disposable for a day though, and he rashed up for the first time. He has never had a diaper rash with them and he is just fine wearing them under clothes. They are a little bulkier and need to be changed a little more frequently, but for me its worth it. We use softbums brand. We use FuzziBunz one size. We used the perfect size with our first and we like them a lot. Cloth helps with diaper rash unless they're not washed correctly - then the diaper rash is horrible. Cloth is not as trim as disposable, but it doesn't really prevent us from wearing normal clothes.

I love reusable diapers, though I am biased - I run Babies Bottoms and More in Farmers Branch. We are open Saturdays from 1-4 so you are welcome to stop by and look at the diapers and ask any questions you have. Sometimes it's easier when you actually have the diapers in front of you.

No pressure to buy or anything, people stop in a lot just to learn about the diapers, which is fine with me. I'm a WAHM just trying to help other mamas enjoy cloth like I do!

We use cloth and love it! I use several brands and types, some are trimmer than others so I chose according to what she is wearing. My daughter is more comfortable in cloth than in disposable diapers.

We have a couple of bumgenius diapers that we've used for about a year. The velcro is shot now so I would suggest the snap version if you choose that brand.
I used Kushies too until she grew out of them.

A friend of mines uses them. Her baby did get acouple of horrible diaper rashes. I am not sure if the rash was related to the cloth diapers or not.
Before you invest in the cloth, I would try a chlorine free diaper. You can find them at Sprouts.

I've tried the reusable a couple of times but haven't made the switch yet. The diaper was fine but it requires a bin (or something) to store the dirty ones until you do laundry. My son seemed comfortable in the diaper under his clothes. I have a one friend who likes the brand "Apple Cheeks" and another who likes "Bum Genius".
