I am on Macrobid for a UTI. My period is 3 days late and usually on time. I had brest tenderness 1 week after ovulation and twinges/cramps. Can medicine for a UTI effect the results of a pregnancy test?
Thanks for the response. One of the responses attached a link I went to this link and it said to read the insert of the pregnancy test. I went into the bathroom to get the insert looked down at the pregnancy test and there was a faint line. I definitely was in shock. I took a test this morning and it was positive. A faint line but its there.

I don't know if the medicine you are taking can affect your pregnancy test results, but I do know that things like having a UTI can mix up your periods.
I have a really good friend whose periods are late if something really stressful is going on or she has a UTI. Her husband is fixed, so there is no chance it's ever pregnancy. Her cycles are just really sensitive to certain things. Her periods tend to come late in the summer too when it's really hot weather.
I would wait and take the test again in a few days and see what it says. Then, if it's negative and you feel fairly certain you could be pregnant, you could follow up with a blood test to be sure.

I don't know about effecting the pregnancy test, but the antibiotics can definately make your birth control noneffective. Did the tenderness and cramps go away? If so, the test is probably correct. If the tenderness persists ask your dr for a test, or take another home test in a few days.
No, they really can't. Pregnancy tests measure HGC, a hormone that sores when you become pregnant and other than something like fertility treatments, you just don't make it normally. If you are doing the test correctly and reading it in the proper time frame and it is positive, most likely you are pregnant. You can always follow up with your dr if you want to be more certain. nope. only thing that can is if you take hcg shots for a fertility aid. regular meds can NOT do a thing to change that.
The only meds that can affect a pg test are ones that contain hcg (giving a false positive), which antibiotics do not. There is nothing that will "erase" hcg from your system producing a false negative.
