Potty Training Boys - Webster,NY

I'm a cloth diapering mom and I won't spend the money on cloth trainers lol! I use the $6 for 3 pair Gerber thick training pants you find at Wal-mart. For my kids, if they felt what was going on they got it quicker. But I know there are some kids that it really upsets so you'll have to see what will work with your little man. Bare bottom also worked good for us once they started to get the hang of it.

I started out by setting a timer every 15 minutes, making a big deal of it and running to the potty because the "pee pee bell" rang. I have a potty in each of the bathrooms that my little one can get to. I then gradually increased the time of the bell as they could hold it longer.

Your little man is young so he may or may not be able to do it but I say go with their strengths! My daughter was 17 months old when we started and we've been diaper free at home except for nap and nighttime. I love it! Saves me time and less loads of diapers to wash!

I struggled with potty training my son after having an easy time with my daughter. I found a book that really helped me - I didn't use all of the techniques, but I did like some of them and the "sessions" were great for giving both him and us a break from it during the day. We also used the goldfish in the toilet method to teach him to pee standing up (after he was comfortable sitting on the toilet). Anyway, the book is called Potty Training Boys the Easy Way.

I have three boys and all potty trained by 2 1/2 years old. What I did commonly with all three, let them go commando (naked) on the bottom or top and bottom bare. Whatever you and he prefer. So, when he has to go, he doesn't have to struggle with anything, just go and sit down and go. Then you have to figure out when to put on an underwear. I couldn't tell and of course they had accidents but I didn't get mad at them for it because both I and them individually were learning. But, if you put the other stuff on them, pull ups for example I think that is defeating the purpose. Some kids don't care if it gets wet because it's like diapers. Others care about the fact it was a little wet. Now it's summer time, try it commando and if you feel that it's necessary then put on pull ups when you go out but take to bathroom as often as possible. My husband was good at doing that because I would have the other one to care for (out in public) and took them to potty every 15 minutes or so and have them go or at least try if they didn't 15 minutes before. But, we encourage our boys to drink water, drink and drink to keep them hydrated because one of our boys gets chopped lips from not drinking enough.

I watched them for signs and each child is so different. My 1st I put in underware and let him go and watched him he got up went into kitchen and peed on my door mate. He was ready and trained for peeing with in 2 days pooping took 6 month, My 2nd child stood up one day looked at his penise and waited for like 20 seconds and then peed, I knew he was ready. He trained for Pee and poop with in 2 days. He was a stinker though. He would go into his roo take off his clothes, put on a pull up , pee then tak it off, throw it out, and get dressed, go in bathroom flush and come asking for a potty prise. I got ride of the pull ups and this stopped. He had the consept just being a stinker.
