I am 23 weeks pregnant and moving to the area in a few weeks. I need to find a great OB to carry me through the rest of my pregnancy...I've heard from my husband's colleagues that Geisinger is a better choice than Wilkes-Barre General??? Any help?

What can I do next?

Welcome to NEPA.. I am a new mom to a beautiful 9 months old baby girl Aaralynn.. When i got preg, i went to General, and hated it, and i changed 1/2 way thru and went to geisinger (up in plains, not the old mercy..) I loved them.. went to womens health clinic (its the building next to the hospital) and Dr. Valentia devilered her.. he was great... But you have to meet all the drs, and they are all awsome.. and so are all the nurses.. and i had to go every week(b/c i had gestional diebeties), so i got to know everyone in the office.. then when i went to the hospital to deliver, i also had a great experance. I was scheduled to be induced on 25th at 4pm, and she was born on the 26th around 2pm (c-section) i was in labor for 12 hours before i asked for drugs, and hats when they told me i could have a c-section if i wanted it, b/c i was only 4 cm and they said it would take awhile.. and not even 45 mins later i had a healthy baby girl, and they were all so great.. i will be going back there to have my next baby (hopefully next year).. Good luck

-Jessie

Geisinger.....

I wouldn't recommend General to anyone...Ever!

But seriously, the staff is better and so is the food.

If you have any specific questions, contact me privately.

Hi C.! My name is L. and I just read about your wanting a good OB/GYN. Even though I didn't deliver my son there, we have a good friend that delivered her baby there and had nothing but good things to say. Also, her room was very nice and comfortable. I have been to Geisinger for other reasons and have found it to be a very good hospital. I would recommend this to you. I am a 33 year old mother of one, he is 3, his name is Connor. We have lived in Mountain Top for 2 years now and love it. If you are ever looking for a daycare, my son goes to Shining Stars and loves it! Good luck with the move and being able to stay home!

Hi C.! Welcome to the area! We live just over the hill in Nanticoke, and I'm a new SAHM of b/g twins who will be 1 on Valentine's Day! If you want to get together, I'd be happy to show you around...home # is ###-###-#### (A.).

I delivered in Scranton, at Moses Taylor, and their birthing suites are beautiful...don't know much about Geisinger, but General is awful! (Andrew was admitted to WBG @ 5 weeks for reflux, and the whole experience was just awful.) I am in the process of switching OBs, and think I have chosen Dr. C. Coslett...but have not seen her yet. Have heard good things. Give me a call and we'll toss around some names. Can you take a tour of Geisinger before you commit?

As far as peds go, I would recommend Kingston Pediatric Assoc., and request Dr. Harris. He's great...my girlfriend loves him too, but her SIL doesn't care for him. It's a personality thing; he's quick, funny, to the point, and has been a pediatrician for a long time, so he doesn't get all crazy. (which is a nice balance for a first time mom, being me, who has 800 million questions!) (w/in this practice, avoid Dr. Sehic, who sent my 5 week old baby to WBG in the first place, and it was totally unnecesary. Dr. Harris has said that if he's not available, to see Dr. Kile, so he would be my 2nd choice.)

Seriously, if you you have any questions or want to get together, give me a call. The babies are having their first birthday on 2/17, and I've invited my friends and their kids, all moms from the area and a great bunch of people. It would be a good way for you to meet a bunch of people all at once, if you'd like to come...please feel welcome! It should be a hoot...crazy and sugar-induced, but a hoot nonetheless. (my husband and their grandparents will be here as well...if your hubby would like to come, he's welcome as well!)

Again, Welcome...A.
