Muscle Problems After Having Kids

Just wondering if anyone out there has had anything similar: After having my second child, I am having trouble with my muscles. It may or may not have anything to do with having had a baby. My music enzymes (CPK) are high, showing muscle breakdown. It seems to follow my cycle somewhat (CPK goes up before/during period and then goes down when my period is over). I am also having some strange eye disturbances; not double vision or blurry, but my eyes are SUPER sensitive and I often feel like my vision is "too good" and I can't stand looking at things that have a lot of detail on them. After 2 months, my doctor is completely stumped and just yesterday he finally referred me to Mayo Clinic. Just wondering if anyone else has had anything remotely similar. Thanks so much.

What can I do next?

Maybe you might try seeing a kinesiologist a muscle tester. I go to one with all my medical care and she prescibes herbs as opposed to drugs. She treats the body as a whole and not just the ailment. She can tell what is wrong by testing the muscles in your body. It has helped me tremendously. I have a problem with hormonal imbalance, digestive problems, my skin and the herbs are amazing. I guess we put so much trust in the doctors that we don't realize a vitamin such as vitamin c or whatever can cure what is ailing you. Give it a shot, maybe it might work for you. I pray that it does.
Good luck

Hi S.,
Congratulations on your baby girl:-) Your recent symptoms are interesting. The fact that they deal with your muscles and vision makes me think of MS (multiple sclerosis). This disease (usually good prognosis) can vary in different people. So even though your vision is more acute, it still may suggest optic nerve involvement. I'm glad you will be going to Mayo Clinic and please let us know what they say.
Try to continue a positive outlook (your mind has a lot of healing power)by imagining yourself healthy and strong, and keep the Faith. God is good!

Hi there, your situation sounds very similar to me. I started having problems after my son was born(1st child). I thought the problems were due to a very difficult pregnancy. Not to scare you but I was eventually diagnosed with M.S. I have great days and then others are not so good. Sometimes my great days are so good I think I don't have MS and wonder if I was missdiagnosed, but the tests doen't lie. I had an MRI and then a Spinal Tap to confirm. The encouraging thing is 65% of people with MS don't even know they have it. They go on living normal lives and just think something is slightly off every now and then. Again, don't let me scare you but maybe they should look at the bigger picture. I had a baby and a stroke at 28 and MS at 29. Too young for many of the medical problems but it can happen. I hope they help you soon. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Have a great weekend!

Have you been tested for MS? I know that's scary, but worth checking into...

I hate to be the one to tell you this, I really do, but PLEASE see a Dr. soon. I have MS and all the symptoms you describe are similar to mine. There are books out there that tell you how to get MS under control naturally, which I read and followed for a long time, now I am too poor to stick to my "diet" of all organic foods, and eliminating those I am allergic too. I still eat raw nuts and seeds for snack, but that is about all I can do and my symptoms are coming back after a remission of 30 years. Being too tired, or living in a hot humid climate is also not so good for us. I was a nursing technician for a long time and had a battery of tests done at Baylor University in Dallas, I didn't self-diagnose. I hope your symptoms are something else, but only a Dr. and tests can determine that for sure. Considering, having been a nursing tech and not comfortable with meds, except if diet and life-style doesn't work, if I tell you to go to the Dr. then I must believe what I say. That's what my children say anyway. They usually ignore my suggestions for diet and life-style and/or humor me but I have been so on target so often, NOW they listen. I hope you do too. Please see the Dr. and ask specifically about MS. Thanks for listening.

S.,

Go ahead and follow up w/ the Mayo Clinic. My friend's sister found out that she had MS following the birth of her baby. I know that it affected her eyes also. I guess MS pretty much disappears during pregnancy and then reappears after about five or six months if I remember right. Lord bless, keep us posted. Hopefully it's nothing, but for your peace of mind and your health have it checked out.
