Looking to Buy a New Mattress.

Our current mattress is 10 years old and needs to go! I have looked into the sleep number bed but a I am also considering the Simmons Beauty rest ( a traditional spring). Any advice would be appreciated as I am overwhelmed by the choices and feel pressured by sales associates. I am looking for a queen size that can withstand the jumping of my three year old. I also don't want to wake up every time my husband turns over during the night.

I got a tempur-pedic bed about two months ago and it is wonderful! Well worth the money. I wish I had it while I was pregnant. You won't even know your husband is in the bed with you, the wine test you see on tv really is true. I think they even have a bed that has a sleep number system with the tempur-pedic top, so you get the best of both worlds.

My husband and I bought a sleep number bed when I was 3 months pregnant. Let me tell you, it is great! I do not feel when he is in bed. You can make it as hard or soft as you want it. My 7 year old does not like jumping on it as much as our other bed because there are no springs to bounce her back. My sister has a temperpedic bed, but I do not like it because sometimes I need something firm to sleep on. Also, when you lay down on it you just sink in. I have not had any back pain since we got the sleep number bed. I used to wake up every day with back pain and I would see the chiropractor. Well worth the money! My parents have had thier sleep number bed for over 10 years now and they still love it.

Buy a Tempurpedic, you won't feel your husband move and your 3 yr old won't be able to jump on it (no springs).

We have the Sealy Beauty Rest World Class - http://www.simmons.com/products/brands/beautyrest/worldCl...

It's amazing and even though our 2 1/2 year old tends to climb and jump - there isn't really the "rebound" factor (she doesn't bounce all over in every direction). My husband wakes up very early for work and it's not a drastic noticable movement at all. Hope this helps! (btw: my neighbors had the sleep number and hated it so they went out and got the beautyrest classic set.)

I love my Select Comfort! We've had it for 10 years. Now my mom and some friends have one too. They all love it! It's not at all "gimmicky". Each side of the bed can be adjusted to exactly how the sleeper likes it. You don't feel the other person moving around. It was great when I was pregnant...I was able to change it as I grew and got MORE uncomfortable. The bed DOES take a while to get used to (that's why they give the satisfaction guarantee for a time period). You have to figure out what numbers are best for you. I hope that helps.

We bought a Simmons Beautyrest when we got married 4 years ago. I did NOT like the sleep number bed or any of the other gimmicky beds (air bed etc). I thought the tempurpedic beds were ok if you like that sort of thing, but they were so much more expensive and we were happy with the Simmons. As the sales people for Simmons will tell you, the springs are independent of one another, which is different from some other mattrasses, so when one person moves you don't really feel it. We're really happy with our bed.

Have you gone to your local library and looked up what consumer reports had to say? This might help you make a decision right for you.

We have a mattress from AMerican Mattress that's awesome. It's a combo spring/memory foam mattress. Queen size. Neither of us are bothered by movements during the night. The sales associate at the store we went to wasn't pushy at all. It's a small family-owned company and they assemble all the mattresses on an as-ordered basis. The plant is up in WI, and we had our mattress the very next day. No bait-and-switch issues like with other mattress stores. Esp. Back to Bed, they were a nightmare to work with.

We bought a new one last year when I was pregnant with my daughter and my back was killing me. I did not go for anything like the sleep number or anything weird. Just bought the hardest spring one we could find. All the pains went away, I can't feel my husband moving around and my 4 year old jumps on it all the time (with dad)!
It's great. We got a great mattress for little money too ... we baught it at this little shop NW side of the city owned by this older lady. We bought it for less then half the price of any of the big mattress places. I think we paid around $300 for a king size, that normally goes for @ $1000. It's not used, it's just a little dinky place, that doesn't spend millions of dollars advertising on TV and that's why they sell them so cheap. The only thing is they don't deliver, but if you want to save some money it's well worth it. I can give you the phone number, not sure if they are still there ###-###-####. Good luck !

My husband and I just got back from buying a new mattress. We used Verlo. They have stores all over Northern Illinois. The mattresses are hand made and can be made to your specifications, i.e firmer or softer. They are not expensive compared to other brands and the sales people, at least at the Mundelein store, are very nice and helpful. Our first mattress was a Verlo and it lasted 12 years...it's actually still fine, we're just looking for an upgrade. Check them out, they're based in Wisconsin and if the matteresses are not made in the store, they are made at a facility somewhere in Northern IL or Southern WI. Here's the link:

We bought a Verlo several years ago and we still love it! The nice thing is that they are very reasonably priced, and they make the mattress onsite, so if you want to customize it a little you can. I believe we got the enchanced excellece model. It is a great bed and has a nice warranty and really could not be more happy with it.

We just got a Serta Sleeper with Visco foam. It is the best mattress ever!! My husband is a "rough roller" at night, as well...and with this mattress, I don't notice a thing. My daugther lost interest jumping on this bed, because it doesn't offer a lot of bounce. Two birds, one stone. heh

The mattress is kind of pricey, but totally worth it!

We happened to have bought a new tempurpedic mattress just before I became pregnant. It has been amazing. I highly recommend it!
