Looking for Recommendations for Diaper Pail to Use in Nursery for Cloth Diapers

We liked the Diaper Genie. One perk is that you can use regular ShopRite bags, which saves on the expense of buying special brand name bags for it.

I bought a 10 gallon trash can from Big Lots. It has a lid, but I very rarely ever use it. I use flushable liners for my cloth diapers, so if he has a dirty diaper I just flush the poop with the liner down the toilet and throw the diaper in the container, which I keep in my laundry room. I wash about every 4 days, and there is almost no smell, even with the lid off. In fact, I think it is smellier if I put the lid on.

I had a wet bag and I hated it... a dry pail works much better for us.

I'm using a stainless steel can with a pedal from Target, many cloth diapering moms I know use plastic, too. Line it with a wetbag, designed to contain cloth diaper smell and you are all set. Just take it and throw it all in the wash. There are a few I know who just hang the wetbag on the back of the nursry door knob with no problems. Good luck!

I use a tiddy cat plastic bucket (after i used all the cat liter) i didn't want to spend any more money and plus it is reusing what i have.

I used the diaper champ, and it worked great! No bags were necessary, and when you put the diapers in, they were sealed off from the air, so NO ODORS! It held about 2 days worth of newborn diapers. Happy cloth diapering to you! I loved it!!!

Anything with a cover. I kept mine in the bathroom, actually, between the tub and the toilet. That way, I could rinse them in the toilet before plopping them into the diaper pail. I never left them in the nursery (partly, cuz, oh, yeah, we didn't have one ! hee hee) But I do think your nursery will smell much nicer if you keep the dipaer pail in the bathroom. :-) And since you have to rinse out the messy ones anyway, why carry them back to the nursery afterwards ?

I use a plastic trash can w/a lid from Target. I use a diaper pail liner with it. Any lidded trash can will work. Also buy som tea tree oil (GNC) to use w/it. Any lidded trash can will work.

My favorite, for sure is the one I got from www.CottonBabies.com that is specifically for diapers. It has a slot in it for "deo-disks" & is a really good size--it holds enough diapers so that I only do wash 1x/wk.

I just use a 13 gallon trash can w/ a lid, it has the step to open foot pedal. I then use a pail liner- I believe it's swaddlebees & it has drawsring.

Had things gone differently for us, and we used cloth diapers, I was looking into this 'potty pail': http://diaperware.com/productpage/bagsandlaundry.htm.

We have had great success using the dry pail method with a foot operated lidded stainless steel trash can. It has a pull out interior black plastic liner that I throw a cloth laundry bag inside which collects all the dirty cloth diapers. I then pull the plastic liner, throw the cloth laundry bag and dirty diapers all into the same wash, and then spray the plastic liner down with a water/bleach mixture and let it air dry. i use the cloth bag so no poop residue gets onto the plastic liner thereby making it necessary for me to scrub out the black plastic liner. I have also sprayed the liner with tea tree oil spray and lavender oil spray to reduce smell. We bought ours at BJ's but I am sure you could find one at target, costco, sam's club, etc.

I just toss a wet bag inside a regular trash can and toss the diapers in there after I toss the poo in the toilet. When I wash the diapers I wash the wet bag as well.

I know you already responded back, but I wanted to add my 2 cents in. We used the diaper champ w/ either a regular plastic trash bag or a wet bag. This was kept in my son's room beside the changing table. I washed diapers every 2.5 - 3 days and NEVER had a smell. I've been using disposables w/ my newborn and the smell is awful after about the same number of days. My new son is now big enough to fit into the diapers I have, so we're switching back to cloth, YEAH!

PS: We also used the flushable liners in the diapers. They probably helped keep the smell down.
