I am going to be decorating my house for Christmas this year for the first time. I do not have many decorations and was wondering where to get decorations- from trees/wreaths (artificial or real?). Also bulbs, and other ideas. I am looking for quality at a reasonable price. Thank you.

I find they sell nice wreaths in places like cox farms but they can be a little pricey , also for decorations I have found some nice stuff in home depot.

S., Merry Christmas and many congratulations on first-time decorating! I hope you have a blast!

You'll get lots of ideas here, I'm sure, so here are just a few of mine:

If you want artificial wreaths and greenery, try the craft stores (Michaels, AC Moore) but first get the Sunday Washington Post because it will have sale flyers with coupons for both. You can save a lot of cash with the coupons that appear every week. The craft stores also do carry some ornaments etc. I like to get lots of their lovely artificial berries and other natural looking items for wreaths and swags.

I was just at Ikea last night (in College Park, MD) and they have quite an amazing selection of ornaments and decorations right now. If I needed to get started and do it inexpensively, that's where I'd go!!

Good luck and have fun!!

Do check out various dollar stores and those too have some nice looking santas and ornaments. A.C. Moore has the ornaments made from clay/dough two for a dollar right now. Ofcourse, after christmas is time to get ready for your second christmas.

Ikea has really great stuff as does target! If you wanta step it up a notch ( more $$$) You can go to crate & Barrell or Pottery Barn? Also the day after C-Mas almost everyplace has huge sales, good time to buy! ( I know Crate & Barrell sells everything 50% off or better!)
Maybe more bows & popcorn ( strung)this year & then next year after the sales ( if $ is an issue) you will be all ready~! ( just a thought)
re: Trees & wreath's- lowes or Hm. depo ( less expensive) or tree farms ( like Butlers or Homestead) depending on where u live both will have both...happy decorating!!!!

I've found nice, reasonably priced things at lots of places. I like Michael's for a nice variety of greens, garlands; Target for lights and decorations. Some of the better artificial trees i've seen have been at places like Lowe's and Home Depot.
