Hi Moms,
I'm looking for a nice, durable dollhouse set for my 3-year old daughter. She's still a bit tough on her toys, and very little pieces disappear quickly. I'm keeping these things in mind when I shop. I'd also like to be able to get a well-furnished house (or buy furnishings separately) without spending a small fortune. Any advice? Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Better late than never....My daughter finally got her dollhouse! She has the Fisher Price Loving Family Grand Dollhouse, and she loves it! We have so much fun playing with it together! It is well-made and has a great variety of furniture. One big 'plus' - the small pieces are either tethered to the furniture (with short strings) or permanently attached. No small pieces to lose or be vacuumed up!

We had a great experience at age 3 with the Loving Family Dollhouse. Great accessories, we got a great deal from the website that included a bunch of rooms, plus you can get them decently priced at Walmart. Then at 4 my daughter discovered Barbies and her whole world shifted. :/

Santa brought our then three yr old the Fisher Price Loving Family Dollhouse. She's had for a year and a half and still plays with it daily. If's very sturdy and folds up for easy storage. We have a small storage container for all the room accessories. I LOVE it and so does she.

We've had the Fisher Price one & used it with all 3 of our girls. It's now 10 yrs old and aside from the bit of crayon decorating some of the doors, it's still as nice as the day we brought it home. Also, it is still played with daily even with the twins now being 6. It also came furnished with the family and furniture.

We got our girls (ages 3 and 4) the Kidkraft Annabelle dollhouse for Christmas. The price was right and it can be used for Barbie's. So far so good as far as durability goes, but it's only been a few months. My 3 year old is pretty rough on it and hasn't damaged it.

I bought my daughter one from Target. Its their brand I think because I have seen it on display in every Target Ive been too. It is 3 levels with 2 rooms on each level and a staircase leading. The back walls have roomscapes on them so she will have an idea of how to set up her house. Also, the top level has 2 porches so she can have some outdoor furniture. It comes with some furniture and it is all made of wood and fabric and is both durable and a good size for any "figures" she wants to put in it. You can buy add on furniture for it as well. We have had ours since my daughter was 2, she is 4 and we have only had one thing break and that was because she stepped on it on purpose.

I bought KidKraft Savannah Dollhouse for our 3 & 5 year old for X-Mas. Goes for $118 at Walmart. I paid $70 around Christmas at Meijer (on sale and special coupon). VERY cute, sturdy and kids love it. I like they can both play at the same time...big enough for that. Directions are fairly easy to follow. I am NOT good at reading and putting something together...this is ALWAYS my husbands job. He was working late and I wanted it built for X-Mas morning. I did it 100% myself-took me close to 3 hrs, but I did it :) Well worth it!!
