How was your experience with IKEA crib?

We bought a basic white one from IKEA in 2001. We used it for two children up to their 2nd birthdays and then gave it to my cousin for his babies. It's held up well.

I've had some luck with their products but think some of things like cribs/highchairs/babystuff are poorly made. If you decide on one make sure they are up to all the safety standards. It's one area you don't want to get a cheap version;-)

We bought an Ikea crib for our oldest who is now almost six. I believe it was the Diktad model. Not partical board, it's solid wood. We have used it for all three of our kids and it is still in great shape. It is really sturdy and easy to assemble. It converts into the cutest toddler bed that is low to the ground, so you don't have to worry about them falling out. The sides don't adjust up and down, only the mattress, so there is maybe a little more bending over. To me the difference in price was well worth a little bending! We have loved this crib!

Yes, we are using Ikea crib currently. I bought one for about $80 (without the mattress). I liked that it was made of unfinished solid wood, very natural, no chemicals painted on, easy to assemble. Here is the link: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60091931
Craig's list is a great place to buy used items but be careful the crib is not too old (make sure it wasn't recalled) & it's safe.

I really don't have any info on IKEA cribs. But I do have a daughter who works for Babies R Us, her name is Christina and she is the HR person at the store in Southcenter. She is absolutely great. She was a Nanny in Alaska before working at Babies R Us. She will be honest with you. Tell her I sent you!!

Hi my daughter is a year old now and has been sleeping in her IKEA crib since she was about 3 months old. We love it. It was very easy to put together, it seems very solid, it turns into a toddler bed when ready and the price was GREAT! Baby Bargains even recommends it.

We bought the white crib (starts with an "H") from Ikea and have LOVED it. Something that I was a little worried about with it was that the rail doesn't come down, but what I figured out though was that you don't need the rail to come down since the whole crib is lower to the ground. Before we bought this one, we had been using a used crib. With the used one, sliding the rail up and down would wake my son up after I put him in bed so I stopped putting the rail down and had to strain to lay him down on the mattres. Because of that, I have really liked the design of the crib and I like the look too. We will be buying a second one for our next baby who is coming in March.

If cost is an issue for you. I reccomend checking out craigslist.org for a crib. There are tons of really nice quality cribs there. I have never used an IKEA crib. I'm sure they are fine though. S.

We bought an IKEA crib for our first, they don't carry anymore, but it looks similar to the Leksvik crib they sell now. Its solid wood and sturdy.
We didn't have any problems with the crib, but stopped using it when I reached the third trimester of my second pregnancy. Since the sides do not adjust I had a hard time putting a sleeping 1 1/2 year old in it with my belly. :)
We are still using the mattress we bought there and it has held up fine. We plan to use the crib again when we stop using the bassinet for my second.
I guess I would have bought one with dropping rail the first time if I had to do it again, but only because I became pregnant. Other than that no regrets.

I love our IKEA crib. Can't remember which one it is - the one with solid panels on the ends. It converts into a toddler bed later.
The writers of Baby Bargains give it the thumbs up. They compile 1000's of parent reviews and consumer reports, etc. and IKEA cribs are rated tops from them.

Mine has been good. Don't use it much, though.

We bought a crib from Ikea for my granddaughter and it was great. When she outgrew it it turned into her first big girl bed.
I would buy another one if needed.

The only thing I would watch out for are any cribs made of particle board (I do know that IKEA uses particle board for some of their bookshelves). Particle board contains formaldehyde and other poisons which off-gas into the air you breathe. It is one of the most toxic forms of wood on the market. I once bought another crib made of particle board and noticed the smell so I put in on my lawn to off-gas and the grass underneath it died in one day! So I always recommend getting either a metal crib or a crib made of solid wood (not particle board). European makers of anything for babies are also always a good bet because they ban all those awful chemicals which U.S. companies are happy to use. Just a heads up...

yes, we got an Ikea crib and it's been great! Our daughter is 18 months old now, and she slept in it fine on her own from 1 month old. We also got the mattress from there, and use that plastic mattress protector under the sheets, and it's kept it safe! When she gets older, it will convert to a toddler bed...so all that for less than $200..you can't beat it!

We are very happy with the Sniglar crib ($79.99) our son has been using for the past six months or so. We weren't convinced we'd like a bed long enough to spend a great deal of money on a convertible bed so we spent the extra money we saved buying such a cheap crib on getting a quality mattress. (We recommend Hästens.) I highly recommend this crib.
