How Long Will It Take Before I Can Pee Again?

I had a hysterectomy and bladder suspension and had a catheter for 10 days. I cannot imagine having it for a month, the pain and discomfort was driving me crazy. What I did to get rid of it was clipping the catheter (they come with a clip usually if not bend it in half and tie it with a rubber band) and let my bladder feel full and then unclip it so it drains. Of course ask your doctor before doing this but your bladder becomes "lazy" and needs to be retrained. Usually you would clip it for 3-4 hours or until you feel really full. Again, check with your doctor and good luck!

I never had that type of surgery however, when I was about 6 months pregnant, my daughter was positioned such that it blocked my bladder and I couldn't go without the catheter.

I had the catheter at least a month during pregnancy. I will say after it was removed, I did have trouble. I guess that would be because I had grown so accustomed to the catheter my body was slow to adjust when it was removed. I finally got relief on my own but it did take time.

You might ask you Dr. how long it may take.

I'm so sorry you're going through this! My mother had a surgery like this, but she was not allowed to leave the hospital until she could go on her own (2 days). This isn't normal, so I think you should get a second opinion. Good luck and i hope you feel better soon!

I used to work for a ob/gym that did these types of surg. If you had a bladder sling done it sounds like it is to tight, which does sometimes happen. It is not normal to have these issues this far out. I would go get a second opinion if your Dr is not concerned.

This is not normal. Please go see a good urologist immediately.
