I have an upper respiratory infection and a double ear infection (lovely)... I'm on antibiotics, and I know, I know, take them until it's gone... I'm on day 2 ;) WHEN WILL I FEEL BETTER?! My kids are going to start a mommy mutiny if I don't start playing in the next day or so, and my laundry pile is going to over take my house. I have no business being sick!!

So how long does it take to get over this ____@____.com?!

What can I do next?

I guess I have the "man virus!" Coughing my head off. Finally got some Rx cough syrup and Flonase. I haven't had anything like this in 15 years. I usually just go for the "man stroke and cancer."

The 'man cold', I resemble that remark lol. Maybe your husband could learn some new domestic skills during your illness.... I'm just saying :)

a man cold? what's that supposed to mean? I'm a man!! And I'm domesticated!

upper respiratory infections, even with antibiotics, can take up to 5 days to feel better.

Have your husband take the kids and the laundry to the laundry-mat and you rest while they are gone.

hmmm, the daycare kids have been sneezing on me all week. As of last night, I was running a low-grade & felt like heck. Just an all-over, general head cold kind of thing. Definitely not the flu....thank goodness!

Called the dr today & was astounded at her answer! My question was: I take Singulair & Zyrtec as daily maintenance drugs for my allergies/asthma. What would be a good option to dry up all of the gunk in my head? I'm having ear pain, swollen tonsils & sore throat, & all of the usual head cold symptoms - watery eyes, runny nose, etc.

Her answer was: check with your pharmacist. I don't know what will interact with your meds list.

Excuse me??? You've been my dr for years now. You prescribed every single drug I use! Talk about dropping the ball! I truly believe it was simply a cop-out, a way to get rid of me, & never once was it suggested that I come in to be checked....even with the tonsils/ears!

Good grief! Talk about non-care!

& I totally get your need to be up & about: last night, my older son/DH prepared the bulk of dinner. My younger son made the mashed potatoes, tossed in a load of laundry, & took care of the dishwasher.

I hibernated...far, far away from them. & from what I've been hearing, a couple of days for the worst of the symptoms & then about 3 weeks for the cough/head gunk to disappear. Yuck.

R. sorry you're sick, are you getting any rest? I'm guessing no! my dr used to tell me when I was a single mom with two little ones "You're not getting better cuz you're not getting enough rest." OK so I guess I'm NOT getting better, until my kids grow up.

Longer than you, the kids and the husband want. :) I would expect you to feel poorly for a week if you rest properly. My 13 month old son enjoyed my Kermit the Frog impressions when I was sick recently. Maybe you could try that for cheap thrills. I hope you feel better sooner, though. What a drag.

Can you send your hubby out with the kids? If you can rest it will help you feel better. Drink a lot of OJ and/or take some Airborne or Emergen-C, the vitamins will give you some energy and help take the crappy feeling away.
