I am needing some help in what to do with getting rid of ink from clothes..... I was the "bad" person, left an ink pen in my pocket, went thru the wash & along with other clothes (my daughter's), didn't notice it until everything just came out from the dryer.... I feel awful, it did not ruin my stuff, only got onto her's,..... and of course a favorite shirt as well.... I will be so grateful for any and all help given. Thanks

Carbona (small yellow bottles) in the laundry isle has onet hat works great on ink. I also had an ink pen broken on my carpet once and did not find it for 2-3 days, rubbing alcohol took it completely out of my beige carpet. Could not believe it.

Hey I just recently went thru this. I tried stain remover, I tried greased lightning. I tried hair spray and polish remover. The only thing that finally worked for me was soaking the spot over night in a little bowl with hot water and a bunch of OXY CLEAN with stain remover. And it worked really good.

Nail polish remover works pretty well. Alcohol can work a bit too, but I like nail polish remover better. Use it in a well ventilated area though. Good luck!

There is some stuff you can get at Dollar Tree in the cleaning aisle called Awesome. You can use it on so many different things, and it is just what it says "Awesome". That is the only thing I can think of this early in the morning that works on ink.

I have had success with spraying hairspray on the stain and then rubbing it out with a cloth. I've never tried it after washing and drying so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. Good luck!

I know you won't believe this but try it.... WD-40. I have removed ink form walls, doors (inside and out), toys, purses, cars, and carpet. My daughter went through a stage of writing her name everywhere! I have not used it on clothes yet but my girlfriend is the one who told me about and she has used it on jeans.

Best of luck.

I don't know how well it works for clothes already out of the cycle but I know that hairspray loosens up the ink and then you quickly rinse that out. Good luck.

Have you tried hairspray? That's worked for me in the past on a regular ink stain. Just spray the ink, let the hairspray soak in, and wash as usual. May have to repeat. Good luck!

There is some stuff at Hobby Lobby on the fabric table called Grandma's Secret Stain Remover. I haven't used it on ink but I do hair and it gets hair color off shirts and even hairspray doesn't do that. Hope this helps!

Try cheap aerosal hair spray---Aqua Net and White Rain are a dollar at the Dollar Tree.
Lay stained area on clean absorbent rag or pad of paper towels. Spray and blot until stain comes out. I've never had it fail. Even used it on my husbands leather jacket.
Having been thru the washer/dryer may make a difference. If it doesn't work find an Amway dealer and get some LOC. it should work!! i can give you the name of my distributer if you like. Or I can even give you a small amount of mine. A quart lasts forever.
Good luck.

Hair spray gets ink out. The cheaper the hairspray (the more alcohol content) the better! Spray it on the stain and let it sit, then gently rub and blot with cloth. If all else fails take it them to the dry cleaners, they can usually get any stains out.

Melaleuca's Sol-U-Mel will remove it. However you have to be a member to purchase it, unless you know someone with an account that is willing to buy it for you. It is an amazing product and can be used in many ways. For ink removal I would use it full strength. Good Luck!!!

I used Goo Gone to get sharpie marker out of my son's rented tuxedo shirt. The dry cleaner had already cleaned it 4 times and were unable to get the ink out. You do have to scrub at it a little bit though. You can find it at walmart.

I second the hairspray suggestion. My daughter writes on herself all the time and wrote on a favorite hat of my husbands. Hairspray and a little elbow grease got it out.

Years ago I read in a "Heloise" column about using hair spray to get rid of ink (I don't like aerosal 'cause of the fumes..) The very next day, my son broke an ink pen while messing around in church, and got gobs of ink all over his new white shirt. It ALL came out. It works okay with permanent marker, too, if it is fresh. I used to tell my students that they should tell me immediately if there is an ink accident, because they would be in twice as much trouble if they hid it from me!
I don't know how it will work once the ink has been through the dryer, but it is worth trying. Good luck!

try vodka. not to drink that won't help. dab it on the stains and see if it lifts it out. vodka will clean alot of things even remove foot odor if you soak your feet in it. it will clean the grout around your tub and sink and remove cat urine odor in your carpet, sometimes if not to set in it will remove mildew. if the vodka does not work the ritz make an ink remover it is in those small bottles by the laundry soap.

The only thing that has worked for me is hairspray and LOTS of it. Soak it in the spot (use cheap aquanet or whiterain) and dab it out with a rag or paper towels. Expect it to take time and work. I have been successful with this on my dh's work shirt in the past.

I have had GREAT luck with SPOT SHOT carpet cleaner.....Also for clothes. Orange lid, blue can....Can find it everywhere...target, kroger. etc. You will need two cans for a whole load....

DO NOT WET the spot if dry. Spray to saturate and let sit 5 minutes. Rinse, Spray again and scratch gently with your fingernail/tooth brush. Repeat until gone.... Be sure to put paper towels of something on the inside to prevent the spot from soaking thru onto an "GOOD" part of the clothing....

I have saved whole loads with this process. Takes time but it will work on everything but DRY ERASE markers....they are there forever,...

Good luck!

Denatured Alcohol works like a charm. We did the exact same thing and the denatured alcohol took every bit out without a trace remaining. You can get it at Home Depot or probably even Walmart in the paint section near the paint thinners. You just dab it on the spot and you will see the ink virtually disappear.
