GIRL Names!!!! Help, I'm Drawing a Blank

Wow! I just saw a post where someone asked advice for baby boy names and ya'll gave the BEST suggestions!!! Can you do the same for me but for a girl? She's due in Jan. I have a 16 mo old son named William Marco. We call him Marco. My Dad's suggestion is Petra Paulina but NO THANKS! It sounds nice but too harsh I think. I have so many boy name ideas but now that I'm having a girl I am drawing a complete blank! My husband likes Allegra but that sounds like allergy medicine to me. Maybe one of ya'll will suggest something that I TOTALLY love and seems to just "fit"...then I can finally end my search for the perfect name. Thanks a bunch!! :)

ps- the names on my side of the fam are mostly latin. my husband was adopted. our last name is Irish. My Mom's name was Alicia(ah lee see ya) and mine is Alejandra(A.). My husband's name is William. I like classy, timeless names. The kind that never go out of style.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We decided on Eve Amelia. We'll call her Evie. Thank you all so much for your help! I'm so happy that I can relax now. There were so many lovely names to choose from and even though some were prettier than the one we chose, they just didn't feel "right". The name we choose is right. It fits her. I just know it. :)

Throwing my ring in the hat. Eliza? Marilyn? Evelyn? Rose? Bianca? Phoebe? Claire and Lena have already been mentioned and Madeleine...I love those. Rachel Lena is my daughter and Madeleine Claire was the name chosen for my son...had he been a girl...we named him Kai.

Good luck!

I really love my girls names not to many people have them well there are a lot of Erika's out there but with a c not a k. You can also change the way you spell the name to make it different than everyone else if you like a common name.. Also J. is a great name I hardly ever hear of any one with my name ; ) Good luck picking a name and Congratulations on the new baby!

My daughter was due on Jan 2, 1995. We had Erin Noelle picked out for Christmas Eve or Christmas day. Noelle was for the holiday.

We wanted a name that sounded nice as a baby, toddler, kid, teen and adult...........we came up with Erin. We loved it and we are seeing it more and more on young professional women (CNBC among others). We are still happy with Erin. My Erin is the only Erin I know in her class.

We went with Melissa (just happened on that one) for middle name if she was not born on one of the holiday days.

I didn't want something so common (Susan as I am and had 3+ per class) or so "out there". Some of the "out there" names are really nice but imagine an 80 yr old with that name???

Enjoy your baby girl!! If your hubby is like mine....he'll make sure you deliver before Jan 08 for tax purposes, LOL We even married on New Years Eve for "taxes" HA. It has been 20 yrs so I guess it is ok!!

Susan

I have an Emma Grace, named after my grandmother 8 years ago, before it was all the rage. Then baby Emma was born on "Friends" and the name was everywhere. My youngest is Erynn Jolie. Erynn was a spin on the name Brynn I saw on a baby board. Jolie is after one of our closest family friends who passed away.
Erynn also could have easily been Cecelia. That was my great grandmother's name. Would have been cute as Cece or Celia for short. I also like Claire, Darcy, Sophia, and Chelsea.

My name comes from a name that runs throughout my Dad's side of the family, but each "connecting" generation with the name has a different spelling: My name is spelled J., but my grandmother's cousin spells her name Jeannette, and all the generations before also had different spellings. My middle name comes from one of my great grandmothers on my dad's side, too. My sister has my maternal grandmother's first name with my mom's middle name for her middle name. I have a cousin who spells her name Carin, and another cousin whose name is Sara (no H). If our little boy had been a girl, we were going to name her Emmalee Janeice ~ the first name is a combo of my husband's grandmother's middle name and my husband's middle name, and the middle name was a combo of my first name and my mother-in-law's middle name (J. and Janice) (We threw the "e" in to make the pronunciation easier, and we knew we were not going to have any more children.) Sorry this turned out so long, but I thought it might give you some ideas for a more unique name without superhard spelling, or pronunciations, plus being able to honor more than one family member.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! :) (Oh, and I had a boyfriend who had a daughter from a previous marriage whose daughter's name was Paulina....my nickname for her was Paulie! They both loved it, and she started going by it!)

Olivia Fae, sounds so old-fashioned (in a good way) and feminine to me. Avalon True is what my first child's name would have been if he'd been a girl. I've also always liked names like Sarah Elaine, Anna Elaine, you know where you call the child both names, almost. I also knew a little girl once named Ayla, which I thought was pretty. Hope this helps!

One of the names that I have always loved was Rhiannan Nicole. Good luck, I know how hard it is to decide on your child's name. One that is going to last his/her lifetime. We ended up having 2 boys & never got the opportunity to use that name for a girl. Would love to know what name you decide on. Congratulations on a new baby!!!

Some of my favorite names:

Aurora - - the baby in the movie "Willow"

Aurelia - - the beautiful, cleaning woman in the movie "Love Actually"

Micah - - a cute, little girl with blond curls that was in my gymanstics class for 5-yr.-olds way back in 1982. I'll never forget us laughing the day that she told us that it was her birthday and she was 4!! Her mom had snuck her into an older class - - but she was so good for her age and doing great! She was unbelievably cute!

Katie - - my own daughter's name, which I got from the Disney classic movie: "Darby O'Gill and the Little People." The movie was set in Ireland and I remember watching it when I was only 4 or 5 years old. The banshee terrified me! My mom said my sister and I used to sing the song from that movie, "Oh, she's my dear, my darling one . . ." and we only saw the movie one time at the drive-in in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, sometime around the early 1960's. My own Katie turns 21 next month! Seems like yesterday that she was born and her daddy leaned in close to look at her and said softly, "So it's Katie, then?" I nodded yes as I held her in my arms for the first time.

Congrats on your baby girl! A name I like, and haven't seen in YEARS, is Amelia. I went to elementary school with a girl named Amelia and she went by Amy. Amelia Reigh is flashing through my mind right now, and I've never thought of it before. When I was pregnant, my girl name was Manhattan (I <3 NY), but we had a healthy baby boy. My son is almost three now, and his preschool is FULL of Emma's, Caitlin's, Mia's, McKenzie's, McKenna's, Ellie's, Hannah's, Logan's, and many of the other names I saw on the list. Good luck and let us know what you chose.

I really like Kyah, I have a friend her named her daughter Kyah.
Mikayla or Michaela (after a daddy similar to Michael) is a name I've always loved. My brother is Michael.
Also, I worked with a girl, Magdaliz. She is from Puerto Rico, we call her Maggie, but her name is never confused or mistaken from anyone else.
I look for originality and uniqueness. try to incorporate something that reminds you of someone or something that helped develop you or your husband, as a person. It makes the name mean so much more, in my opinion!
Good Luck! When you find the name, you will know it's the one, until then just keep googling!

My daughters

Emily D. (meaning industrious and divine)
Elinor Rose (meaning light and rose)

Look up name meanings. They will change how you feel about names. I was going to originally name Emily -- Mary Katherine and call her Mary Kate, but Mary Katherine means bitter and queen. Who needs a bitter queen living in their house!

Best of luck on your precious baby girl.

When I was pregnant with my daughter, the first name that I thought of was Raegan Sade, but I didn't choose it because there are just too many Raegans out there. I also like the names Bridget Rose and Fiona Lilly, but I'm really into Irish names. I don't want a very common name, so I would look at the top 100 names for the last year, and not use any of those. My daughter's name is Rhiannon, and I love it! Not gonna be 5 of those in her class! Choose something that means something to you.

Hello fellow A name. I LOVE names that begin with an A. Most expecially for girl. I think they have a certain grace and feminine quality. I am with the first response. I love Amelia I almost named my daughter Ameila Michelle. I just had her in July and we decided to combine an english name with a spanish name since my husband is from Mexico and we couldnt agree on a name. We ended up with Aliondra a combo of Allie and Alondra. We call her Allie but I love that she has options. We also loved
