Finding Health Insurance

Yesterday I had asked if anyone had ever worked at Starbucks and if they knew anything about working there part time and if they offered health insurance. I am trying to decide if I will be able to go part time in about 6 months and thought Starbucks would be a good fit for me. I had some mixed reviews on that. When the time comes, I can always look a little further into it.
What I would like to know is if there are any jobs out there that are part time that do offer health insurance. I currently carry our health insurance. Its pretty good, too. My husbands company provides no insurance. I was checking into rates and wow are they high to buy it ourselves!!! I am not sure if I would be able to work part time AND pay all that money for insurance. Let me know if anyone has any ideas of jobs they know of that provide medical. Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

Hi D., I worked for a few years for a private special ed preschool, 9-1 Monday through Friday, school schedule. Yeah can't beat that! They DID offer health insurance to the parttime aides (20 hrs a week). It was VERY expensive, I had health insurance at the time, but if I'd gone for theirs, it would've been about $375 a month just for ME, which was nearly HALF my take home pay. :( (but it WAS an excellent plan)

NYS has a program for lower income families, maybe your state does too, worth looking into.

In a previous post someone suggested that buying Kaiser Permante was an affordable private plan. Google 'private health insurance' and maybe you'll be surprised what you can find.

Meanwhile, hope and pray with me that our president will still come up with a solution for people like us!!

Kaiser Permanente offers great health insurance. I believe they offer it as long as you're working 30 or more hours/wk. And i think there's no cost for you or your entire family. I think co-pays for office visits and prescriptions are like $5. They also offer retirement and lots of sick & vacation time. I've had one friend who worked there as a receptionist and another that worked in the call center and they both really like it. Good Luck!

I thought I had heard that Trader Joe's offers health insurance to their part time employees. Don't really know if its true or not...just throwing it out there! I have always thought the people who work at Trader Joes seem pretty upbeat & happy...and that usually means a company is pretty good to work for.
