My son turned 3 in July. He loves playing games and doing the activities on sproutonline.com. For Christmas my husband and I want to get him an electronic learning system for travel or just as something else to do. I am looking at the MobiGo Touch Learning System, V-tech InnoTab and Leapster Explorer. Are there any that you can recommend from experience. My son is 3 but he is a bit advanced for his age so I don't want anything that he will outgrow quickly. I also don't want anything that will be too difficult that he will grow frustrated. He would almost always have an adult helping him because I am not a parent who relies on technology to babysit my children. Thanks for your help!
We got a Leapster for my son at age 2. It was a little advanced for him at first, but he got the hang of the simple games pretty quickly. And now, at 5, he likes playing the more advanced games that we bought for him. So this game has really lasted a long time in our house. I'd recommend it.
There are probably some "more advanced" hand held games on the shelves these days, but we got our son the Leap Frog Leapster when he was about the same age as your son. It's educational and fun for them; they don't even know they are learning!! My son is 5 now and still uses it. There were some games my sister gave me that I was concerned about "frustrating" him as you mentioned. So I held off on those for a little while, and he eventually wanted to try them, figured some of them out on his own, and didn't want my help anymore!! I hope this helps!!
P.S. Be sure to invest in rechargeable batteries, as long as the device you choose permits the usage of them. GOOD LUCK!!
The VTech Mobigo is great...my 3 year old daughter has it. The games are fun and educational and they have games for older kids too, so they won't outgrow it. I recommend it.
Nothing better than good old fashioned books, car games, and movies.
