Hi everyone...I am looking to buy a double stroller that is not too expensive. My son will be 16months when my other baby is born. I was looking at the Countours Options Tandum. Is that a good stroller? Does anyone have any recommendations?

I have a double stroller by Joovy, it's the Joovy Caboose Stand-On Tandem Stroller. My three year old doesn't always want to sit down, but there is a seatbelt for when I need him to. He can stand facing forward or back. The front will accomodate an infant carrier and later the babay or small child. I travel once a month by air, and I load the two car seats on the back and the baby sits in the front, the older one can still sit, under the car seats but usually he likes to walk. It's been a lifesaver for me....
It runs about $180, but maybe you can find a used one. I hope this helps.

We bought this stroller when my 3rd child was born a month ago. I really like it, it is easy to put together and change around etc. The only complaint I have is that it is very heavy, over 50 pounds so right after having my son, it was difficult for me getting it in and out of my van. But it is ok now, I am building up some muscles :). The other thing is that when you fold it up, you have to take the seats off to get it to fold up enough to fit in a trunk (in my case the back of my minivan). So, it does take a bit more time. That being said, I do really like it, I love all of the options, I love that the steering is so easy. I definitely think its worth it if you can get past the heaviness of it and that it does take a bit more time to pack it up after using it becuase you have to take the seats off. Good luck :)

One word for you: eBay. Many of us moms who got great stuff (like double strollers) at our baby showers turn to ebay to get rid of it (for a profit, of course) once they have served their purposes. You can get great deals on items that are like-new and in great shape. Or try www.craigslist.com for the same kinds of deals. With craig's list, you search for items based on where you live and can often go pick it up without paying for shipping. eBay and craig's list have saved me a LOT of money over the past three years!

You may also want to check on Craigslist to see if the stroller you want is for sale. It's like an online garage store.

I think I wrote this to someone else but we got our Graco duo from a church sale for $10. It is in great condition and all the material snaps off and is washable. I couldn't beat that! So I would say try garage sales and church sales as the season for them is picking up. You might find a steel and save a bundle.

I have a three and a half year old and a 7 1/2 month old. Last year I bought the Graco Quattro Tour Duo. For the most part it is great - it folds up pretty small and doesn't weight as much as most double strollers. It is sometimes hard to steer, especially when my three year old is sitting in the front seat. The handles, however, are great as you can grab on in a vertical or horizontal position. I really like it. My best advice would be to go to a baby store and actually "test drive" one with your kids in it. Good luck.

I have the Combi Counterpart stroller, it's about 150 online....it's very narrow and steers fine....the best part...it's very lightweight and folds up very slim...I've always loved my Combi strollers, the back seat reclines for a baby and it has detachable canopies which also provide great coverage when in use.

You will LOVE the Phil and Ted Stroller E3.. You CAN put the car seat on top too.. they don't recommend it, but it fits and works.....Most parents don't think the child below has a great view..but you can change them when their older (older one goes on bottom) but my daugter loves to ride below....and most children do. Also, it's the lightest of all the doubles..folds very well too...Lastly, it works great in the streets due to the wheels and steering is a breeze... Everyone also asks me, "where do i get one of those" Good luck in your search, email me if you have any questions... I also have a bugaboo. .m

We just got the Countour Tandem and we like it very much. We read a ton of reviews and finally decided to go and check it out in the store. It's heavier than most of the other double strollers, but that's not a bad thing. At least we know when the babies (ages 15 months and 4 months) wiggle around, there is little possibility of it tipping. So it's not so much "heavy" as it is "solid." For as big as it is, it handles amazingly smoothly. It's as good or even better than our Chicco single stroller in terms of manuverability. Just be aware that when you take it out of the box, it is very stinky. The smell goes away after about a day of airing out, but the first day is a doozy with whatever chemical they used to treat the fabric. Our kids seem very comfy in it and there is room for them to grow. The seats are very easy to take off and change positions. Right now we have them both facing the back, but we are happy they can also face each other. Our youngest thinks her older brother is the cat's meow and loves to look at him. One other thing...the stroller just looks "cooler" than other double strollers in or near the price. We were originally looking at ones that were much higher in price, but are glad we chose this one. Hope this helps :)

L.,
We bought the Graco Duo Glider when I was pregnant with my second son. My boys are now 5 years old and 21/2 and they both still fit in it( I am hoping it will last through this summer). My older son sits in the back which seems to have more room. Both seats have trays(easy to remove), canopies(the front one comes off), and 5 point harnesses. Some of the things I love about are the large bottom storage space, and the front canopy can be moves forward so if my little one is sleeping or if it is windy, I can block the the wind/light. We only use it now when we are traveling via airports , going downtown for the day, or anywhere where they will need a rest(zoo, amusement parks etc.) My boys are runners and I would not even think about taking them without it. I am not into chasing them all over the place. Even though it is a little bulkier than others, it really is nice because if they both are sleep the seats recline and they are shaded by the canopies. I look at people who have the strollers where the older child can stand but to me I always think, what if they get sleepy. Also, an infant seat that is compatible will fit in the back seat space. Good Luck! We did buy ours online but I do not remember where...wherever it was it was free shipping which was nice.

I agree - check out the Combi Twin. Lightweight, easy to steer, fold, carry, good features such as full reclining seats, etc.

I agree with the person who mentioned www.craigslist.com I purchased my last stroller and sold my double that way. It's a great way to save money and get a better stroller. I'd stay away from the front and back options. They are very difficult to steer. Side by side is much better. I loved my McClaren Twin Traveller. If you can find one on craigslist It's worth paying a little more for. If not, I've been happy with my Combi single and would imagine their double is great too.

I do not suggest the sit and stand type. I have kids the same ages. We recently bought the graco double and love it, it is double so it is heavy and it is a tight squeeze in my corolla's trunk. I love the way it rides and the storage and eating cups. It fits the baby carries. I drove my kids around in stollers at b.r.-us to see what was comfortable. If i remember the one you like has snack cups which is the only reason i did not go with that red one. Good luck.

We are expecting our 2nd anyday and so just got done researching and purchasing a double. We ended up with the Joovy Caboose, but our 1st is 3, so she doesn't sleep in the stroller anymore. I would highly recommend going to Babies R Us and trying out the doubles there (your Contours is on display in Schaumburg). Also, make sure you can get them into your vehicle okay. Think about doing it with 2 kids! It's a tough call to find a stroller that will hold the infant carrier and also not be too bulky. There is a sit-n-stand at Target that is convertible, the "sit" part also has a real seat which would probably suit you best, and not be too heavy. But, at Target you cannot take the strollers for a test-spin.

I have a Graco double stroller that I have been planning to put on ebay or Craigslist. Feel free to email me and I can send you a picture of it if are interested. ____@____.com. I did not use it all that much, but it was useful for me as I have twins. They are 3 now and love to walk so much that I no longer need it. If not, I too agree that ebay or craigslist is a good place to look for a best buy. Good Luck.

Hi there:
I have two double strollers. The graco is so heavy that I cannot take it in the car. But the infant car seat can lock in... I use it for neighborhood walks.
The other one is the combi (Side by side) and it is lighter in weight. I like the Combi...
I would suggest a lightweight double stroller.
Try them out at Babies R Us before making your purchase. It helped me choose the Combi because it was easier to steer, etc.
Good luck!!!!!!!!
