Double Stroller for Siblings 20 Months Apart?

I'm pregnant with my second child and am looking for a double stroller that I can start using soon since my other one broke. :( The kiddos are going to be 20 months apart. Does anyone have a double stroller they just love? I can't decide between a sit and stand one or not...one step ahead as one that can be a double seater and turns into a sit and stand, which seems perfect but does anyone know someone that has bought one and liked it? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi L.,
I LOVE my Joovy stroller... my girls are 21 months apart and it's really great. I had a Graeco and got rid of it for the Joovy. It's smaller, lighter, and much easier to use. I can take it to the mall and actually go into and inbetween the racks while I am shopping.
My kids are 2 & 4 now and we still use it. Great quality for the price!
Congratulations on #2!
MJ

my girls ar 24 months apart (2 1/2 and 5 months) and we just bought a graco duo glider. we took it to disneyland and it was great. it can actually hold two graco infant carseats if needed, but the nice thing for one infant carseat is that it can snap into either the front or back seat as needed. the back seat sits up or lies down all the way and the front seat reclines back also. lots of space for stuff underneath too. both seats have trays -- the front has a cupholder, and there is a parent cupholder. we loved it!

I have a Babytrend Sit 'n Stand LX, which is a double that can convert to a sit and stand. I have absolutely loved it so far. My youngest two are 17 months apart. I didn't end up using the infant carrier portion as it was designed - car seat goes in the front and snaps onto an added metal bar. Instead I put the back seat of the stroller in the laying position and placed the car seat back there. Then my older one could sit in the front, which has a tray. The tray is great - it latches onto both sides, so I frequently unlatch one side so that my toddler can get in and out on his own. I have only converted it to a sit 'n stand once, and decided that even at 2 my son wasn't ready for that. The basket underneath is plenty big enough for snacks, changes of clothes, diapers, wipes, blankets, toys, and cups. However; the diaper bag doesn't really fit in it. I have used this stroller to go to the mall, on walks through the woods and on sidewalks, baseball games, football games, jogging, you name it I've probably taken this stroller to do it. It has been a lifesaver, and I highly recommend it.

Hi there L. -

We really like the Jeep double umbrella stroller too. It's really easy to manuver when one or both kids are in it. Since it's an umbrella stroller it isn't good for newborns since you can't set their car seat in it, but once they're, say, 6 months or so and have more "sitting up" ability, then they'll be fine in it and it's less bulky to load/unload from the car when you are out and about. We've taken ours to disneyland and italy and we were so grateful to have it! The other great thing about umbrella strollers is the price. I think we got Jeep stroller on sale for like $68! I think they run a little more for regular price, but are still much less expensive than the big fancy ones.

The double strollers that have a seat in front and a seat in back are typically heavy and very hard to turn corners with because of the weight in the front. The only benefit to this type of double stroller is being able to set the newborn seat in while your baby is tiny. One solution would be to use a single umbrella stroller with your toddler and carry the newborn in a sling or other front carrier until he/she is old enough to sit comfortably in the double stroller w/o his/her car seat.

Have fun!

we had a sit n stand that had 2 seats, with the back one being removable to use the sit n stand part. not sure if it was the step one version but it was older and clunkier. (i've seen a newer version and it looked pretty light-weight to me.) if you're going to be going out with 2 kids and you want your oldest to be confined, definitely go for it.

don't forget to read reviews on amazon. they help a lot!

We're digging the Baby Trend LX or DX, I forget with model--the one that converts to four different ways. Most importantly it becomes a sit & stand for the bigger kid for when you're ready. Target carries it. Be sure to get the more expensive one, as that's the one the has more positions ($180).

The double stroller that I have is the Chariot stroller. I know you can get it REI and have seen people selling theirs on craigslist or ebay. The stroller can be used for pushing, running, you also can buy attachments for cross-crountry skiing and I think you also can hook it up to a bike. There is a sling for little ones that you can buy.

We bought the Joovy Caboose and have used it for over two years now. It is excellent! Our first two boys were 16 months apart, so it really helped to have a way for our active toddler to get on and off without having to unstrap him and lift him. There is a newer ultra light one that has the parent "tray" and is lighter. Though the older model we have isn't to heavy. I think it is about the same weight as our full-size single stroller. Good Luck and Congratulations!

My girls are 16 months apart and we have a GRACO Sit and Stand. It has the two seats that can be converted to a sit and stand in the back. It works Great! It was 139$ at Target. It is pretty light weight and even easier to set up and take down it is one push colaspe which is really nice! Good Luck! You are going to be busy. Mine are 23 months old and 7 months old!

I love my Phil and Ted's Sport double. I agree it is pricey but I think it was a good investment for us as I use it almost every day and it can become a single stroller. My two boys are 16 months apart and sometime the only way to keep my sanity is to take them out for a walk! It folds up great and fits into the tiny trunk of my jetta. The fabric is sturdy and easy to wipe clean. I got mine at albeebaby.com for a reduced price because a couple of the colors were on sale (blue and pink, luckily i have two boys). Good luck in your search.

I love the Joovy ultralight. And my three year old loves that she can walk but also sit or stand and ride when she decides to. Good luck!

I have a Phil and Ted's Sports Buggy and I absolutely love it. It can be used as a single stroller, as a double with toddler and newborn, or set up for two toddlers. They are tandem, so one is in front of the other. It doesn't have a cup holder or much bucket space below, but if you walk around a lot this is definitely a great stroller. They range in price from $500 to $800 but I have to say it is way worth the money. And when one outgrows it you still have a single stroller to use! I guess decide how much you walk and go from there. I can't say enough good things about it. I got mine at strollermama.com.
My boys are 26 months apart, and now they the baby is 10 months and the toddler is 3 and we use the stroller practically every day. And keep in mind that if your oldest seems old enough to walk, they are bound to get tired or want to take a nap if you are somewhere that requires a lot of walking around.

our boys are 17.5 months apart and we loved our jane stroller... it was great for the store since they ride one in front of the other... but rugged enough to cruise the 'hood with our dogs... it is a bit spendy (at the time more than the bob double) but worth it... used it every day for 2 years and it survived airline baggage handlers and still looks/works great! we looked at tons of strollers b4 this one... considered the phil and ted but weren't keen on having one of the boys ride in the bottom seat... made me feel like i was putting him in the storage basket...
