Hi there Moms!
I began taking Cymbalta about 2 weeks ago. I know that you need to give meds time for the side effects to go away. I was wondering if anyone else takes it and has some of the side effects. I seem to have to pee ALL THE TIME! It's crazy, I lay down for bed and get up about 10 times to pee! Also, I feel like my appetite has gone down (that might be good!), and I am constipated. Some of the fibro pain is gone, but not as much as I hoped. If anyone knows something that is good for fibro please let me know!!

What can I do next?

Hey there! I have 2 friends who followed this diet and it made their fibromalgia go away. I follow this "diet" too and it made my migraines/achiness go away. It's not really a diet - it is avoiding all these ingredients that are msg like. You can give it a try - there was some scientific paper out saying this helps people w fibromalgia. If you want you can look up that paper - I don't know the author. Anyway, on the website is a link to "hidden names for msg" which lists about 25 ingredients to totally avoid. It's tricky at first but then you get good at it. These are in everything. I now make my own homemade salad dressing or use Annies. Sauces are usually not safe to eat unless you make it homemade. Broth out of a can or boulloin (sp?) cubes are deadly. I make my own broth and freeze it now but my friend found one boxed kind that is safe. Most breads and crackers are unsafe. Etc. These ingredients are a neurotoxin and some people are more sensitive to others. Anyway, here is the website. http://www.msgmyth.com/

One of my personal training clients was on it for quite a while. She decided to get off of it because of the side effects.
I can recommend some supplements that would help if you are interested.

I have had a few patients who had great relief from fibro pain with Lyrica--might be worth asking your doctor about. Good luck! (and btw, I'm a physical therapist--NOT a doctor. lol)

I was on Cymbalta for a few years I recently got off of it cause I am trying to have a baby (with no luck....uugh) My main side effect was nausea and sweating and CRAZY dreams...I took it at night because of the nausea. Seems like I peed alot too, and my appetite for sure went away the first couple of weeks. But after a couple of weeks everything leveled out...I loved it...However be VERY carful when you do get off of it..the withdrawls are insane work with your doc when you do. I was on it for depression/anxiety...im not sure what Firbomyalgia is :0/ Hope this helped...completely normal :)

For me the answer has always been in managing my stress level. I've tried diets, pills, potions, meditation (as part of a stress reduction plan) and nothing really worked well enough to spend the time or money on it. I've finally found most of my relief by unplugging from television, reading the Bible constantly when I'm not working and praying more. I've started watching pastors online and just don't even allow myself to think sick.

I don't take it personally, but my co-worker was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about 6 weeks ago and they gave her Cymbalta. She says that she had the same side effects that you are referring to and that they have gotten better the longer she's been on the medicine. She has been taking it for 6 weeks now and she said she is feeling pretty good.

From an outside prospective, I can tell a HUGE difference in her demeanor and she seems like she is physically healthier....I haven't heard her talk about being as tired or achy as normal. And she agrees that her physical symptoms have diminished over time.

I would say continue taking it for a while longer and see if the side effects start to diminish. And also, try and reduce your stress level as much as possible....again, I notice that she is much more in pain when her stress levels are high.

Good Luck!
