Boosting Immune System

I used to be a pretty healthy woman and never seemed to get sick as often as I do now. Ever since I've had my baby (almost two years ago), I have been getting colds, soar throats, UTI's and all sorts of other sicknesses. I was wondering if any of you have advice on how to boost my immune system. I usually take airborn when I first feel sick but it's usually too late by then. I am also a health freak and eat a pretty good diet most of the time. What do you suggest?
Thanks,
A.

Hi A., I used to get sick all the time but haven't been sick in 8 years now. I take Grapefruit Seed extract which kills infection. I also take "Essiac" tea from www.herbalhealer.com (2 oz. before each meal). That must really work because it's rare now I take the Grapefruit Seed extract - only when others around me are sick or I feel I may be headed there. But Grapefruit Seed extract is amazing and works immediately. It tastes awful, though. You can get it from Henry's or www.herbalhealer.com. The liquid is better than the pills. Airborne never worked for me + they have lawsuits on them now as apparently their claims were bogus.

Hi A.,
Ironically enough I grew up in your area. Reston, Va. I am now in San Diego. One of the things you may want to have checked is your thyroid. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism in High school. I was sick quite a bit prior to them testing me. When I had my childrem they kept a very close eye on it. A pregnancy can really mess with your thyroid hormone levels. It is a simple blood test!
As moms we tend to take care of everyone else first and then ourselves. Are you aking a multivitamin? THe airborne is great for a boost(I use it too!)but it shouldn't take the place of regular vitamins.
Good luck
J. R.

I'm a nutritionist and have taken this every day for years:

1 multi vitamin- you don't need an expensive womens formula- I like "Twinlab One-A Day", (with iron if you're still menstrating, without iron if you're past menopause or a male or if you are intollerant to iron).
ALSO,

1000 mg. Vitamin C- I take 1 "Emergen-C" packet a day. This is good to prevent aging, BOOST immunity, fight sun damage, plus many more benfits. You can also get it in a capsule, at a lower cost than the packets.

Women should also take calcium daily (unless you get 1200 mg. from your diet, which is pretty rare). I like the calcium chews. Our body absorbs 500 mg. at a time, so take it in divided doses.

Also, to boost immunity, you should take some probiotics (good bacteria). It helps to fight yeast and infections in the body. Especially if you've had to take antibiotics...you NEED to replenish your good bacteria or you may get repeat infections. Go to your local health food store and buy some probiotic capsules (in the fridge area). Take them in the morning on an empty stomach and wait 30 min. before eating. Take them for 2-4 weeks and then repeat every 6 months or so. You can also eat yogurt a few times a week. That will help too, but the capsules are much more potent than the yogurt.

Also, of course, 8 hours sleep a night and excercise and fresh air is good too. And a positive happy attitude doeesn't hurt either! :)

If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

Dear A.,

I can try using the capsule form of the herb Astragalus. It is very good for boosting the immune system, generating anticancer cells in the body and is also a powerful antioxidant. You can buy it at any Henr'ys store.

Hi A., my name is R. and I am a new member here. I used to be a firm believer that Airborn was the cure all of preventing sickness. Until I started having my own sicknesses. In January, I would have stomache pains every time I ate a meal. It got so bad that I woke in the morning and it felt as if there were a knife in my stomache. I was also have constant carpal tunnel pains in both arms that would shoot from both wrists all the way to my elbows. And yes, my immune system was also getting weaker. I went to my moms for my b-day celebration and dinner and as usual, 20 minutes after the meal, my stomache pains were the worst and nothing I was doing helped. I know that you are having slightly different symptoms but I can relate to the immune system. That night, my mom served me a glass of water with a sachet of powdered fiber. I followed that with a glass of water and took some natural pure Ganoderma capsules that she gave me. After 3 days of taking these products, I not only got rid of my stomache pains, but my arms pains as well. The bonus was that I didnt feel worn out and tired anymore and lost 5 pounds by the 4th day (fiber). I was hooked on these all natural products that they had me try and so I bought some for myself and I have to tell you why I was having immune problems. My doctors were prescribing me too many medications that stemmed from a knee injury. The meds had side effects, which he prescribed other meds for the side effects. And it snowballed from there. After a year of this, my body was wore out, I was scattered and didnt feel like getting out of bed some mornings. After taking these natural products, I'm prescription free and feeling great. I really hope this helps you as it did me and my family and friends who have also been taking these ProYoung products. I dont pass along products easily to anyone, since most out there are filled with fillers and less of the product that you need. I've been sharing these with everyone I know who has or knows someone that has health challenges. No one has sent them back for the money back guarantee because they work and they are sharing with their loved ones. I know you dont know me, but I feel your pain and am here to help. If you want more information, if you want to research it, please visit Proyoung.com/ritasalazar. The best of luck to you and your health. They have turned my life around. R.
