My friends will be hosting several baby showers for me throughout the next month. I am trying to see if anyone has any ideas on original "gifts" to give the hostesses. I am trying to stay away from the wine, chocolate, etc. and be more original I just can't think of anything right off hand. If anyone has any suggestions I would be greatful!
I went on line to Ballard Designs and ordered these jute bags personalized for my hostess gifts. They were a huge hit and come in several sizes and colors and are very reasonable.

I hope this link works for you!

After the stress of putting together, organizing and hostessing a shower, a nice gift could be a "pamper basket" with a candle, bath oil, body lotion, bath mitt, etc. Then after the shower to soak away the stress and really relax would be great!

I don't know where you live, but Swoozie's has the cutest and most original gifts. The store is in Southlake in the same shopping center as Central Market. I believe you can check it out online. www.swoozies.com

Hey, C.. When we threw a friend of mine a bridal shower, she gave us really cute little gift bags with shower gel and a loufa and foot scrubber in it. On the card, she wrote... "From my shower to yours..." It was really cute. Congrats on your pregnancy! :)
They come with a cute ribbon around them so I didn't even have to wrap it! Not too expensive also...which is good.

you could make them some stationary, or a set of handmade cards. If you don't consider yourself a'crafty' person, they even have kits at the craft store with corresponding paper and embellishments to make it easier for you.
you can also get great ideas for cards at sites like www.twopeasinabucket.com.

You could buy small candles at the dollar store (the ones that acutally smell good) and type up a poem about your soon to be child or something to that effect and tape it nicely on the side of the jar and ribbon around the neck of it. i went to a shower that did this and we all loved the candles. i used mine and it reminded me of them.

Hi C.,
You could always buy her a little gift card to her favorite store or to a local salon for a pedicure or manicure. it would be a great way to give back to her and give her a chance to unwind and relax. Just a thought!

I would suggest a spa package. I know that putting together several showers can be lots of fun but can also be a bit stressful. The hostess wants to make sure everything is perfect for the parents-to-be. A nice relaxing spa day would be a wonderful reward. Not sure of your location or the amount of money you will be able to spend. There are several spas out there that are really nice and you are not going to spend an arm an a leg...then there are the ones that are very nice and expensive.

If you know what this person really likes, make a cute little gift basket with her favorite things or a particular theme, like movie basket with popcorn, candy bars, 2-4 movie passes, or a basket of different candle scents or oil scents in a basket, a pedicure basket, a manicure basket, etc. Get the idea??

How about a gift card to either their favorite place to eat or shop or one to a local spa. It doesn't have to be a big amount.

I have some beautiful wildflower paper that you could write a thank you on, along with a pot and a cello bag nicely wrapped with the soil - they'd think of you the whole time they see the blooms - growing as your child does!

Hi C.
I just had this problem myself! What i ended up getting my hosts was the little Willow Tree figurines. They are meaningful, and it is something that they can keep forever. You can get them at any Hallmark store or even online. They have more of a variety online. i dont know the exact website. Good Luck

I would do a group pedi event. Wait until all of the showers are over then invite all the girls that hosted or played big roles. Book with the salon in advance so everyone can have a chair at the same time. Bring a sparkling fruit cider and champagne, fruit and cheese tray and your camera. This is a lot of fun and your toes will look so cute in the hospital when all come to visit. Just think the next time you do a pedi you will actually be able to touch your toes!!!!
A friend of mine did this for a group at christmas. She didn't want the same old candles and gift cards so she booked the salon. It was the best christmas gift of the season and i have th pictures to prove it.

If she is married then I would suggest a "Date Night" Basket. Go to Wal-Mart or a craft store and get a woven Basket. Put everything you would need for a romantic night or a plain date night. Maybe a giftcard to her favorite resturant, movie passes, and babysitter coupons if she has kids. Or for the more romantic, get cheap champaigne glasses, a bottle of sparkilng cider, chocolate, candles and whatever you can think of. I did this as a christmas gift a few years ago and it was a hit. I bought Godiva and good wine, which brought the price up. I bought baskets that were big enought to use as a laundry/toy basket later.

For me, budget was an issue, since there were several friends involved. I went to World Market and found some lovely teacups and saucers on the clearance shelf, then filled them with goodies (crackers, chocolates, hot cocoa mixes, different teabags, whatever), wrapped them nicely, and gave them to the hostesses, along with a $5 card to Starbucks. The whole thing was under $15 per person, and they had something pretty that they will use for a long time to come.

One of the gifts I enjoyed receiving for hosting a shower was a small wind chime. It now hangs on my back porch and reminds me of the person who gave it to me. It is very pretty and I thought that it was an unusual gift.

Sam Moon has some nice bracelets or neclaces you can attach to handmade or store-bought thank you cards (punch two holes and hang the bracelet on or in the card). Allows for a nice gift for about $5 per person.
Papyrus, Crane, Barnes and Noble or Target has nice monogrammed notecards for a reasonable price. You could get each hostess a set of notecards with their initial on them.
Market Street has really cute monogrammed and patterned fabric koozies you could fill with individual-sized bottles of wine from World Market.

At my own baby shower, the hostess gifts I gave were notecards with each persons initial on the front that they could use for thank you notes or whatever. Everyone loved them and I gave a different color to each person. I have, also, gotten candles, small silver picture frames, and gift cards to various stores and restaurants. Hope this gives you some ideas! Congratulations!

I guess it really depends on how much you are wanting to spend. You could got get a gift certificate to a local salon/spa for a pedicure or manicure, or both. Maybe a favorite cd or movie, buy them some flowers...or even a really nice plant of some sort.

hi C.!
anything personalized is really nice. you could do monogramed hand towels (for the kitchen or bathroom), or personalized notecards. there are several places online or cute little stores you can get them from. i also print stationary & invitations, so i could help you or at least point you in the right direction if you'd like.
one gift i got for being part of a friend's wedding was a small leather bound journal... she had everyone's name stamped (or foiled) on their journal, along with a characteristic that she picked for each person... something she loved about that person. so mine said "S." and underneath that was the word "gentleness." it was so sweet and personal. i loved it. you could do something like that.
hope these ideas help!

You have gotten some really great suggestions.
I had my daughter in February and what I gave were flower pots. They were large plastic pots with a variety of blooming flowers and green plants. They loved them! They are even prettier now because the plants are fuller. www.flowerranch.net (between Keller and Southlake). Good luck and congratulations on your little one!

I got a cute gift at the last shower I hosted. It was a personalized notepad and I think they came from www.paper-blessings.com. You can wrap them up with an unique pen and it's always a useful gift. I also have a return address stamper that I love from www.heavenlypress.com. This is a local mom-owned business with cute things.

I gave my three best friends that did my shower this really cute triangluar-shaped vase from Crate and Barrel. The vases were under $30 and I know they really loved them. (that vase isn't in stock anymore, but the reason I picked it was because there were three hostesses/three sides to the vase. I LOVE squares and thought about getting them the quadro vase but realized it was for them, not for me!)

Let's see, what about a picture of you and them at the shower framed in a really pretty frame. You can check out Michaels and and they have little framed sayings about friends you can purchase as well if you do not want to do pictures. Or take them all to a nice dinner.. or mani and pedi day..
