As Seen on Tv

Just curious. Has any bought a product they loved, hated or somewhere inbetween?

I bought green storage containers (not bags) that supposed help produce last longer at a kitchen outlet store. Yes, they did work, but probably not any better than other plastic container or ziplock bag.

My girl friend bought Eggies. I've never seen the commercial, yes, they worked. It was a lot of work preparing the containers, you have to coat them in oil, and of course wash when done. The eggs can't be sliced in half to make traditional deviled eggs. And they take up a lot of space in a kitchen drawer. In my opinion a complete waste of money.

A colleague uses bare minerals and loves it.

I'm thinking of buying the Shark Steam Mop.

ADDED

After reading some of your replies, I thought of 2 more.
We have the Pedi-egg. It works quite well. My dauther, hubby and I all use it. Although we have a file that is like a giant emery board that is 1/2 the price and works better.

We also have magic towel (bought at a demo at BJ's). Works great. I use them all the time for cleaning and wiping up spills. Works beter than paper towels and costs less in the long run. If you go camping, it's a must.

What can I do next?

LOVE Bare Minerals. I get it at either the store or their outlet. The basics are the same price BUT they REALLY discount kits. Most are ones they had for sale on QVC and THOSE are AWSOME!

BEST thing I have EVER seen on tv...changed my skin so much. I would have KILLED for this make-up back in high school!

I have only bought the things from the AS SEEN on TV display in the store or mall. Some things have been good but not all. I have a knock off of the magic bullet and it works fine (I've had it about 4-5 years).

I have used Bare Minerals for the last 7 years. I love it and will never go back. But I don't get it through the "club" plan. I order mine as I need them and prefer the matte foundations over the originals.

I also have and LOVE the Pasta Boat. I use it all the time for spaghetti and for steaming veggies.

I've been thinking of purchasing the shark steam mop and have heard great things about it from a coworker.

And, lastly, I love watching infomercials. When I had cable, I would curl up on the couch with my coffee and a book. I'd watch the parts that interested me, and read through the repetative portions. ;o)

Love my Slap Chop!

I haven't used it yet, but the mighty fix-it tape has great reviews. I did buy some-I need to fix my leaking sink (hubby has neck and back injuries so it's too hard for him to get down there-guess I'm the guilty one for procrastinating!).

The Shark steam mop is great. I also have the green baggies for fruits/veggies & they do work - especially for strawberries. Even if it is not a As Seen On Tv, the product can be a dud. It's always a gamble.

We bought the Topsy Turvy tomato planters(on clearance at the store, luckily not full price). I was not happy with it because the plastic completely disintegrated in only one hot Texas summer.
Magic bullet- nice and small, good for making smoothies but not much else.

Bare Minerals. LOVE!!!

BUT... they have 2 physical storefronts in our area (one in Nordstroms, one their own boutique), so it only halfway counts. ESP since it works so well that all the major companies now have their own mineral makeup lines.

I love my steam mop. Got one at Walmart and it works great on my tile floors - even better on hard wood. And yes, I was swayed by the TV commercials. LOL

One of my co-workers mother's uses Wen for her hair and swears by it and my sister tried it and liked it also - I just can't seem to come off the $$$ for that one though. Especially since my son swears by a pricey salon shampoo to control his dandruff - ugh, teen boys and their hair. LOL

Other than that, I don't buy much off the TV ads - though I see many things late at night that always look wonderful at 2am.

I bought the curved handle with a polartec pad over a rectangle for cleaning the inside of my car windshield. I LOVE it, but filled up the little bottle that accompanied it with Windex since just water did not work as advertised. A lady waiting in the pick up line in front of me came out of her car when I was using it and asked where I got it. Our CVS had a "as seen on tv" display which I where I bought it for $9.99 - quite a lot of money for a plastic handle with a swivel head on it, but it does the job perfectly down close to the dash. I still don't understand why my car window has an almost greasy film on the inside every few months since we do not smoke and the car is old so any plastic outgassing is long done. But that car window cleaner stick works.

Remember those glasses that will fit over your own glasses and will reduce glare and such? They used to be on-TV but son found them in a local WalMart a few years ago! I like them (it was one of my Christmas presents that year) - they do help! They cut down on glare at night when it's raining and really help me if it has snowed out!

However, seems like WM isn't carrying them anymore - at least here! Son left his where the dog got them and can't find a replacement. Wouldn't mind having a backup pair either!

We have the ronco rotisserie (the "set it and forget it" one) and literally use it 3 to 4 times a week and have for over 9 years. My mil gave it to us because we used it more than she did. We just now ordered a new one because ours has been so overworked and dropped that we now have to turn it on by turning what used to be the knob with a butter knife!
LOVE IT! Best as seen on tv ever!

Oh boy, after seeing this, I must like stuff from TV too much. lol.

We have:
Bare Minerals: Now, I do like it, HOWEVER, I have found powder minerals that I like better from a WHAM that sells her version of it, and its SO Much cheaper.

Shark Mop: Love it, but ours just died after 3 or 4 years of constant use.

Pedi-egg: Love it, have had other things, but this seems to work really well, even though I don't use it too often.

Magic Bullet: Love it!!! Its not oversized and it is great for smoothies and pureeing baby food, and chopping nuts and things.

PajamaJeans: OK, I don't own it, but I kind of want to!! I've seen them at Target (great place to buy this stuff so you can see it/touch it first). I just wish they weren't so expensive

Snuggie: HATED them. I like them soft! I've thought about making my own, but OMG it would be so expensive!!! Its a lot of (crappy) fabric

Green bags: I have them too, and they DO work. I've saved many veggies that way. But, I gave up using them. So we continue to have rotted foods. Not by fault of the bag, for sure.

Now you are making me want to go watch some infomercials!!!! :)
(BTW, there was a show that I watched before ... Pitchmen that showed Billy Mays and others checking out some of these "inventions" and they only took ones that they felt were good products, which put some faith in these commercials. Granted, not everything is a good product, but there is some testing and selection involved! )

I have the shark steamer although i did not buy it from tv I love it. I have all hard wood floors and tile in my house. Your floors really feel clean after using it. The only thing is you should used distiller water; especially if you have hard water otherwise it will stop steaming.
I would like to know about the spice racks that slide in and out.

In my experience, it's the men who usually fall for TV infomercial products.
My friend's husband buys EVERYTHING. I guess men are gadget oriented.
Half the stuff he orders doesn't work or is more trouble than it's worth.
My aunt sent me a Black and Decker mini oven thing that I have used a million times and really love.
So...all things aren't bad.
If I buy from TV, I usually buy from home shopping channels because they have great return policies. The only thing I ever wanted to return was a pair of floor lamps that didn't work for what I wanted them for. They are beautiful stained glass, but the shipping and handling was free. It would have cost me a fortune to return them. I gave one away and used the other in a different area of the house.

I tend to be pretty skeptical about claims otherwise.

Just my opinion.

I bought a Swivel Sweeper at Walgreens and love love love it. I have a glass shelving unit in my living room and it is only a few inches off the floor, couldn't vacuum under it and it was a dust catcher. Swivel Sweeper fits under it and every peice of furniture I have. It's also great for a quick clean-up if someone calls and says I'm coming over. I can start it up and whip through my whole house in 10-15 minutes. It doesn't do the deep cleaning of an upright vacuum but it surface cleans great.

I also have an ab slide, great results. And a Total Gym works great but takes up a lot of space so it stays folded most of the time.

Eggies are an egg poacher--you can buy them at any store that carries kitchen ware.

That's funny I was just watching about the steam shark last night on tv and really wanted to buy it. It looked great but I want to see what others say as well. Good luck!
