Anyone Know of a Great NON-SPILL NON-LEAK Sippy Cup?

Hi there-
I don't know if anyone else has this problem- but it seems that every cup I buy for my 3 year old- leaks! All over my diaper bag...which by the way- says not to wash. Yeah right! A diaper bag you shouldn't wash. So needless to say- there's a yucky smell of milk from that constantly being leaking in my bag.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a great cup that they've used? I'm completely tired of all the cups (literally a cabinet full) that don't work.
Thanks for the help!
L.

There are cups made by the first years. They come in a package of two. However, don't boil or put them in a dishwasher. This causes them to leak. These were the best sippy cups we found. They don't have any inserts to lose either. They also have cute designs. Here is the sesame street design just to show you what the actual cup looks like. I love these the best. We have been through so many also.

I've tried tons too, and my favorite are a little harder to find. They aren't a typical brand name, as far as I know, but here's the best description I can give.......

Plain plastic bottom. Top or "lid" is a screw-on character head with a sports drink spout. The head is in characters like disney, sesame street, etc. We have a big bird one, clifford one, micky mouse, pluto, etc. They sell them at wal-mart and target, and they usually come in a 3-pack with juice already inside them (so they are usually in the juice section rather than the cups). I SWEAR by them!!!!!!!!

well, the brand i use is Avent Naturally. i don't know the names of the cup style itself. it's got removable mouth pieces that are hard or soft. my son loves them, and they don't leak, they have valves inside that are removable so they're really easy to clean all the little holes and such. i get mine at meijer, they usually have them in stock. good luck and hope they work for you.

Have you tried the Nuby cups? They look more like a bottle than a cup but they don't leak. Also make sure the little white stopper is inside any cup you buy.

L.... Stacey is right! They are called Nuby cups and here is a link so you can get a feel for what they look like and the different types. I liked them all and I don't think you can go wrong with any of them!

Have you tried the cups with a straw?? They have the ones that the tpo flips over and the straw is covered. My kids really like those and they don't tend to spill as much. However I would reccomend the straws that are skinny! The fat straws seem to rip and that will cause a spill. I think the good ones are by playtex

I use the Gerber ones that look like a sports bottle. I have never had a drop left anywhere! Now I didn't pay as much as they have advertised. I think I got mine at Burlington Coat Factory. They have GREAT prices on baby stuff if you have one around. But I'm pretty sure ToyRus is even cheaper than this price in the link.... Also on other sippy cups I would put a piece of glad wrap over the top of the cup then screw the lid on until we got to where ever. If you look a lot of them sippy cups have a teny tiny hole for air to come in when they drink. So if air can get in it can leak.

Hi there!
I don't know of any truly spill proof cups. I use several different kinds. I usually take juice boxes and bottled water with me and then put in a cup when I need to.
I know your diaper bag says not to wash it, but if it stinks I would give it a try! Just wash it on gentle and then air dry it. I do that with stuff that says dry clean only and haven't had a problem yet.
Good luck!

i have this same problem with leaky cups. not necessarily the no wash diaper bag.. but to solve my problem, i just use those big glad or zip lock storage bags to hold my two kids cups in while in the diaper bag. and then if it leaks it will leak in the zip lock baggy. then you can just wash out the baggy with soap and water and let it dry and reuse it. i use mine a few times then they look horrible(all wrinkled and such). then toss them. i have stopped fighting with the sippy cups that say they are spill proof. no such thing! there is one down fall to this.. if it leaks a lot, then when you take the cups out, you will need a baby wipe or napkin to wipe off the bottom so it's not all sticky or drips. but,, i have a baby wipe handy right there, since they are in the bag for diaper changes. i use them for way more than diaper changes. cleaning faces, handes, cups, spills, etc
good luck

I was in the same boat you are in. I have tried Nubby, Playtex, Avent, Gerber. I have tried them all. I found that if you use the cap that comes with the cup that Avent work really well. I love them. Just cant tighten them too much. Funny but that is when they will leak. lol. They are great. I hate the Nubby cups because they have a bottle type feel for it and I dont think a 3 year old should be sucking on something that is almost like a bottle. JMO. The playtex are great too. They have the Playtex cups like with Dora, Backyardigans, Sponge Bob. They dont have the traditional spout. It is more like the side of the cup raised up. NOt sure if I am explaining it right. Sorry. You can get a pack of 2 at walmart for 6-7$ Those work really well too. I have NEVER had a leak with those cups. Good luck

The Nuby Cups were great!! ....for about a day - then my son bit through the silicone top, when they bit holes in them.. they lose thier spillproofness, you also can't buy lids seperately. Lately we've been using some Dora ones from Walmart, I forget what kind they are.

I have 2 1/2 yo twins and just started using those munchkin big kid cups. I'm bad becuase I let them take them to bed and have no problems at all. I added a link so you can see what I'm talking about. I got mine at Walmart. Before that I was using Gerber and they didn't leak in the bed either.

hiya... just a suggestion, I bought my little one some disney princess cups from target that are insulated and have one piece (no valve) tops - she's had them for a couple months and I don't think that they have leaked yet... so they might have some other decorations that'll work for your boys :) other than that...if you haven't tried the avent cups, you might think about those, I used them with my first daughter and don't remember having any issues w/ leaking - but they are also pretty expensive... anyways, goodluck!!

I have always had really good luck with Playtex...everything I use that is made by them has worked great for me. I know what you mean about a cabinet full of cups, we have tried several different kinds, not because of leaking issues, but because my daughter is picky...lol. Both of my older daughters that have used cups have always used the playtex cups and they loved them...hope they work for you as well as they have worked for me. Good Luck!

i have had great luck with The First Years disposible type ones. They are super cheap and if you lose on it's not a big deal. I have had the same ones for almost a year and they are theonly ones i use now--i have no however taken them ina diaper bag with me. The only ones i have take in my diaper bag were the playtex with the valve. the one time that i had a problem with those was when the valve was getting old and needed replacing.
Hope that helps.

I don't know about any non-spill sippy cups but I can give you a tip for your diaper bag (aside from the ziploc baggie advice - which is great BTW). Wet Ones will take stains out of clothes or diaper bags. I carry the little to go packs everywhere I go. I'm notorious for spilling coffee or tomato sauch on myself and wet ones have come to the rescue better than shout wipes.

I used the NUBY sippy and it worked out great. And they last a long time. My son is 3 and he still uses the ones we bought when he was 1. And they are really helpful with the bottle-sippy trans. Teri

L.:
I have the same problem. I have tried EVERY BRAND out there, and even though some are better than others, ALL LEAK (even if it's a little bit). My children are 4, 2 & 11 months. I have now gotten smarter with the 2-year-old and he can only have water in his sippy cup when "roaming aroung". Otherwise, he uses a regular cup when drinking other beverages and the cup stays in the kitchen. Please let me know if you truly find a "no leak" sippy cup. Best of luck!!!
