I am hoping we can find (on super short notice, too!) a party/meeting/performance
space available on the 30th to throw a super short notice yet - way cool sweet 16.
May very well include a band, but could not- where we resort to ipod.
(Hoping the space will have a PA) And we'd need it for a few hours.
Any Ideas?

-- Great question- my church ( and many others) scrambles constantly to scrape up enough to pay salaries- and thus- we ( and many others) are happy to rent out our space for a fee --- . There are--- natch--- rules like no alcohol - ( duh - with teens) and some assurance would be asked that the party would be adult-observed ---

Check around - and if Lake City is an area that you could use- let me know- .

Have you tried you local community center? I have been to some events (Bar Mitvah's etc) that have been fun. I know several Seattle ccs rent rooms out but with the Halloween weekend it might be booked. :)

You don't say which part of Seattle you live in, so it makes it difficult to recommend any locations. Because it's on a Friday night and it's extremely short notice for any of the invitees, I suggest, to minimize your headaches and your daughter's heartaches that you select a restaurant, like an Olive Garden, Red Robin or have a bowling party at Acme Bowling in Tukwila or another alley close by. Bowling has gained a renewed sense of popularity with kids, as it's one of the venues for grad night parties... it's not our parents' bowling alley, lots of music, lights, good food, and fun. And seeing as how it's on the Friday night you'll be running competition with that evening's football game. And it's the night before Halloween, how many Halloween parties are there that night? Again, by having it at a restaurant or the bowling alley... you'll save yourself the headaches. Most kids go to these venue parties with the expectation that they'll be paying their own way, so it's up to you as to how much you want to pay towards the bill. At Acme, give them a call, I believe they have a package deal. If you want to celebrate with family, have a buffet at home. Have a great time!

This sounds kind of lame, but my friend used it for her wedding receiption and it worked really well. There is a Senior Center in Bothell (off Riverside Drive) that has space. Also check out the VOE Eagles club in downtown Kirkland, or the Juanita Community Center on 100th - those two places always seem to have the "hall for rent" sign outside.

Good luck! Let me know what you end up doing - we will be looking for ideas for Graduation Night.

Check with your local parks department. For example, the Bellevue Parks Dept has a lot of facilities available that fit your needs.
